(games, favors, decor, etx) what did your guests go ga-ga over? etx... TIA!!!!!!

Re: for those whose throw a bridal shower or had her bridal..
I just had my shower on Sunday- so everything is still fresh in my mind! My bridal party made up a quiz about me and FH- like where our first date was- what was my first impression of him, where we are going on our HM, what my e-ring looks like. It was really cute. The other thing that I absolutely loved was- my maid of honor made pink and red hearts and put them on pipe cleaners so they looked like flowers- and she had everyone write down some marriage advice. Everyone wrote really cute things- and it was very fun to read them with FH. :)

there really isn't much of a theme. i should really think about that one, huh? but must there be a theme? her wedding is going to have a vintage theme. and i'm not sure if i should do that because .. i dunno why but just not sure. i'm very into the martha stewart / instyle kinda style. the style's simple, chic, elegant but it doesn't mean i can pull that through especially on a budget. and if i can mesh in some games and all that fun stuff that would be great. any ideas would be great! i'm still a tad ????? thanks!

I have a fun game. This is a good way to get all your guests talking. Take stickers and put famous women on them. Put one sticker on each guests back and then the guests have to ask questions to the other guests to guess who they are (am I talking in circles?). Whoever guesses who they are wins a little prize.
For example, I was Oprah Winfrey once so the questions I asked were
Am I a movie star Am I on TV Am I white Am I over 40 Blah, blah

My SIL decorated clothes pins and everyone got one. The couldn't say my name or my husbands name, if they did, they had to give their pin to whoever they were speaking to at the time. Whoever had the most pins at the end of the day won a prize. It was a cute idea because peopel kept trying to trick people into giving up their pins.

I went to one where one of the games was fill in the rest of the quote...for instance, too many cooks in the kitchen and they would just write too many cooks.....and you had to fill in the blank. There was also one that you had to empty your purse and you got points for each thing you had in there...like 2 points for a pen, 5 points for a nail file and so on. When I was a maid of honor, my BF was really into the beach. For her wishing well, we had two beach chairs, two beach towels, an umbrella and the gifts went into a cooler. So she got to take home all that stuff and the gifts, she loved it.

At mine, in lieu of a wishing well, filled with things I already had, they made me a panty pot - I got about 50 pairs of new cute panties!

my sister did something similar at my shower, except she handed out these silver rings that you can get in a party store. There were forbidden words and if you were caught saying one you had to hand your ring to the person who caught you. the person with the most rings at the end, won a prize.

Re: for those whose throw a bridal shower or had her bridal..
my girls did a couple fun things at my shower... my sister (MOH) made 'poppers'. she took empty toilet paper rolls and wrapped them in pretty wrapping paper. before you close up the one end, put a peice of paper in there with a cute saying or joke or quote about love or marriage... then, before i opened up each persons present, they had to open their popper and read the joke or quote outloud. it kept people laughing and was a GREAT way to keep people entertained while i opened the gifts- MUCH better than bridal bingo! ALSO- if you'll hvae a TV and DVD or VCR... my girls made a video with my fiance- they asked him all kinds of questions about our relationship and me ( where was your first date?, whats one word to describe melissa?) then at the shower, they would ask me the question, have me answer it, and then play his answer on teh vidoe... it was soo cute to see his expression while he was answering or trying to think of the answer the favors were tea cups with some flavored teas in them and a tag that said ' suited to a tea' or ' the perfect blend'. for another friends shower, she likes to cook, so we did teh cookie cutters with the tag that said ' cut out for each other'. thos are just a cuople cute things my girls did for mine! have fun!

Re: for those whose throw a bridal shower or had her bridal..
wow! thanks for all your info! of course help's welcome! i'm loving a lot of these ideas! i knew i could count on everyone here!
another concern i have is do i really need a theme? the color blue is going to be consistent. we're also asking the guests to wrap their gifts in blue. i'm thinking about having balloons (also in blue) made up and have em inside the private room of an italian restaurant. in the end i plan on gathering up the balloons (or most of em) go to a nearby park and have her write her wishes and goals onto a piece of paper and then tie it to the balloons and then let go of the balloons. does that sound right or should she write something else?
i should really ask the restaurant if we're allowed so many balloons. i wouldn't want it to be disruptive. well.. first i'll need a restaurant - hahahah! i'm not in charge of that one =P
