For you ladies who have already gotten married..no shows?
Original post by roan126
So did anyone have guests who RSVP'd yes, but either did not show up at all that day or cancelled with less than a week to go?
Just curious

Thanks ladies. I'm expecting some cancellations and no-shows, but I can't believe that someone would actually show up uninvited!

One couple RSVP'd yes, then a week before said no because they didn't have enough money to travel from out of state.
One friend didn't show up because he had unexpected car trouble coming from NJ.
One relative got sick.
One friend (now former friend) RSVP'd yes, but then just didn't show up. No call, no email, no explanation to this day.

We had 3 people call the week of (we were able to get reimbursed for one of them) and one called the night before because his father was very sick in the hospital. Then we had 3 people no show. One was my mother's friend who I no longer speak to and the other 2 were my uncle and his wife. He has a medical condition. He flew up to NY from Florida stayed in the hotel less than 1 mile away from the hall but just couldn't make it.

We had one couple not show. 3 people at the last minute couldn't come and 2 people who weren't invited show up!!! I guess we lucked out with the uninvited because the other couple didn't show. It can be very nerve racking --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What??! people who werent invited came to your wedding??? please explain!!!!
THey were DH's cousins. FMIL didn't put them on the guest list so they weren't invited. We never see them (I still don't remember their names). 2 weeks before the wedding FMIL asks us if they were invited and we told them NO!! they weren't on the list! Well another cousins date wasn't coming so they took it upon themselves to bring these 2 girls with them anyway!!! They were squeezed in at a table and probably didn't get a favor!!! The thing is it didn't really bother me!! I just blew it off.

Yes. On the day of, 5 people did not show up. However, when I gave my final payment to the hall a few days earlier, I didn't pay for 5 people, anticipating a few wouldn't show so it worked out perfect. I would recommend doing that.

we had a couple of no shows (one was my own step brother and his wife!!!!!) and also a couple of people who rsvp'd w/ a guest and then came alone.
Thankfully, i had given my hall 6 (or 8??) less on my total when I paid my balance so it worked out.

We had two couples not show - one had a death in the family and one was in the hospital. Pretty good reasons in my opinion. And then we had one person who RSVP'd with a guest not bring her. I think it happens to everyone.

Yes, 2 people couldn't make it because of a death in the family and let us know 2 days before, but another family decided to bring 2 grown (in their 20s) children, so we had to change the table organization, but did keep the same number.
However, the Hall asked for the exact number of guests just 1 day before the wedding.

I had 3 couples who didn't show. 1 had an emergency the day of ( her daughter got sick). The other 2 couples didn't say anything to me, no excuse or an apology.
