he already owns his house with his brother (i rent and my lease is up in june) so we are deciding to either dormer his top part out for the two of us or to just move us all and buy a new house (Brother and SIL have second baby on the way)

we live w/ our own families now and are looking to rent for a year or 2 before buying something... maybe even 3 years... enough time for me to get my debt in order

oh yea, we also want to move to California.. where all my family is from since he has less family here...hopefully we can get in before the housing market booms up again..

We both live with our families now. We are saving money in our savings at the same time saving for the wedding. We will use our gift money from the wedding as a deposit for a house. We will look at renting a few months before the wedding then start searching for a house afterwards.

FH & I have been living together for almost 3 years now. We live in the basement of my moms house. Once we got engaged she said we can go rent free until the wedding so we can save up for the wedding {since we are paying for it ourselves} and for our future. THANK YOU MOMMY!
After the wedding we plan on buying a co-op or condo.

We rent a whole house. It was actually cheaper than renting an apartment. It's kind of annoying having a landlord who isn't a super, who has his own life and house to deal with and is always busy. But we have a whole house to ourselves. We just posted on craigslist what we needed and how much we could afford and this guy responded and lowered the rent for us so he would have reliable people renting and no lapse in tenants.
FH read something that LI was one of the places where it made more financial sense to rent than own, unless you wanted to live in that same house for 7-10 years. We intend to move before 2012.

before we got engaged, we moved in, we rented with the option to buy, then we got engaged and put the wedding as a priotity since we ended up not liking the neighborhood, we're still renting the same house, but we'll be looking to buy a house right after the wedding

In the same boat! We are just not sure what to do! We might rent for a year after the wedding then start a search orrrrrr buy a condo. But its so hard saving for a wedding and a place!

Word of advice: if youre thinking of moving dont put a pool in. People dont like them as much as you think, they raise your taxes and its much harder to sell a house w a built in pool.
