My mother has been looking for a dress for my wedding for some time now & she finally found one that she loves & it looks great on her, the only problem is, the dress only comes in forest green. Is forest green appropriate for a May wedding? Should she keep looking for a dress that's a lighter color, or just stick with this one since she's happy with it?

Re: Forest Green dress for May?
i say anything goes! If she likes forest green and the dress is flattering, she should get it. i always wanted navy bm dresses...my wedding is in august, and everyone told me that is too dark for august, but you know what? the girls all look beautiful in their dresses!

If she loves it then get it in whatever color it comes in. Forest green is a great color. My mother is in Dusty Rose for an October wedding. Don't worry about colors. It used to be that brides were supposed to wear sleeved gowns in the winter. Who does that anymore? I think I might be the only one Get the green...she'll look great

I would be more concerned with the style of the dress. What does it look like? Does it have long sleeves and look like it's intended for wearing in cold weather? If not, and the color is your only concern, I think she should wear any color she likes. If she looks good and feels beautiful in it, she will glow in the pictures. Do you have a picture to share with us? where did she find it?

If she likes it she should get it...her comfort and happiness weigh much more than other ppls opinions (should they dare have one!)
Good luck!

Unfortunately I don't have a picture. She got it at a bridal boutique in Syosset - I think. The dress itself is very simple. It's sleeveless, long & straight cut. The thing that makes it formal is the matching jacket it comes with which has sequence around the collar & sleeves. If I find a picture similar to it, I will post.

Interesting...which boutique in Syosset? I was just there a couple of weeks ago. I went to Dina's on S. Oyster Bay Rd. and I went to one on Jericho but can't remember the name. Both told me to come back next month, and that's for my son's Nov. wedding. They said it was too soon and there would be other colors coming out. Did she ask the saleswoman's opinion? Will she be able to still order it in a few months if she doesn't find something else? I know many will tell you anything to sell a gown, but there are some who are really good and take pride in their work. Honestly, I don't know if I would do it. My daughter was just married on May 15, so I'm putting myself in your mom's position. I ordered my gown for her wedding in November, I think. I would keep looking and wait a few months for the spring line to come out. There are new gowns and colors coming out all the time. If she still loves it then at least you'll feel confident that she didn't rush into it.
