Formal & Casual Reception

We're having a formal reception but with a smaller guest list. My parents want to throw an informal party, still catered and with dancing, sometime after the real deal for people that we couldn't 'fit' into the guest list but still want to celebrate with.

How many people are doing this? And when are they doing this?
