I know I've seen it on here before- anyone have it? The first step, I think was figuring out the base reception cost, which is obviously price pp x guests. But then there were some other parts to it...anyone kwow?

Here's a good example:
$100 per person x 20% Service Charge= $120 $120 X 8.65% (Suffolk Tax) = $ 10.38 $ 120 + 10.38 = $130.38
that is the formula if you have a hall that taxes the service charge (they can if they don't use the term gratuity)

basically it's:
amount of money I have + any amount LI weddings cost = more than I can afford.
