Someone told my FMIL this nasty rumor- and I tried googling it but can't find anything out- Is Fortunoff really closing their stores??

I just saw an article about SAKS closing in White Plains and Fortunoffs building a store in its place for mega $$$. Sounds positive to me...I wouldn't worry.

I found that article too when I was searching, but it's an old one- they already built the new one in White Plains (it is gorgeous!! and of course has the Cheesecake Factory next to it! anyone else heard this???

I don't know if it is closing or not but it could be that maybe that they are filing for bankruptcy but doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to close. Macy's did that long time ago and yet if you go to Macy's in midtown area in the city (34th Street - I work around there), the place is always sooo crowded...so it could be that they maybe they are thinking of filing under Chapter 7.....I wouldn't worry or stress over it though..JMO

They are not closing. However, I read in the business section of the NY Post last week that the stores are being sold. I looked very carefully, and there was nothing about it closing.

They're looking to sell. Federated or May will most likely end up purchasing it, but it will never be the same.

my fmil...told me the same thing and i freaked..only for her to later on call me and tell me she was misinformed and they are actuallly going public...since they were a family/privately own business....thats what i know

Seems like it's pretty unclear, even to the employees right now.
This is true. My Dad works at Fortunoffs and it is NOT closing. They are also NOT selling. They're are trying to get funding to open up MORE stores in other states.
