I just came across this posting on craigs list today but heard from a very good source that it COULD be true. Fortunoff might go Chapter 11!! If you were thinking of registering I would hold off for a few weeks and see what happens! Im going this weekend to use my bridal club rewards because I'm paranoid now....
GET OUT! THe attorney I work for is good friends with Louis Fortunoff I am going to have to ask him to inquire for me.

Even if it is true that they're filing Chapter 11, that doesn't mean they're closing. Chapter 11 means that a company is filing for bankruptcy protection from it's creditors. Then usually what they do is hire a turnaround/restructuring team so they can continue operations. Happens all the time.

Yea, that's true about chapter 11. But, I just did a google news search about Fortunoff and it says they're opening new stores..I doubt they would be able to do that if they really were in trouble.

Exactly. They actually just opened a new store in the city around the corner from their other one.
No way! They just opened a new store here.... Hmmm...one of my best friends is the niece of the owners, I'm going to ask her what's going on!

the manhattan store moved about a month ago, i pass it every day for work. it used to be right on 5th avenue but now the new store is on 57th str between 5th and 6th aves. i haven't been inside yet, but it looks bigger than the old store space!

The large store in the city closed. The new one only has jewelery, and some gift items, but not nearly as much as the store that closed. I tried to register there, and there was hardly anything to choose from.

K Mart went Ch 11 a number of yrs ago and they are still alive and kicking. I don't see how Fortunoffs could go chap 11 considering they get business from most of LI Weddings and their families and friends!!!! LOL!!! I certailny hope they aren't....
