Found Dress - But Label was Cut Out!!!
I found a dress I really liked today at a bridal salon in East Hills <Can they really refuse to tell me who makes the dress?
It's a strapless dress with lace at the top of the dress going down into a soft 'V' at the waist. It also has the same lace in a 4 inch trim at the bottom of the dress and a narrow bow at the waist. It had a train (possibly semi-cathedral length).
It came in 'candelight', 'white' and 'ivory' satin.
Sound familiar to any of you? Thanks so much!!!!!

Re: Found Dress - But Label was Cut Out!!!
I was just reading in a book about weddings that it's illegal for shops to do that. Something about federal laws. FM me for details. I have the book but just have to find the chapter that it's in!

The same thing happened to me at a different salon. I actually found out the designer through LIW girls. Keep trying! If you can, go back and try and sneak a picture of the dress. Also, have you tried the other wedding websites that have dress pictures? Good luck!!!

Re: Found Dress - But Label was Cut Out!!!
Thanks for all of the support girls! I don't know if it is illegal or not! I was reading an old post that said that as long as there is something inside the dress to identify it (a store bar code, tag etc) they are allowed to do it.I couldn't even sneak a pic of it because the woman was with me at all times. It really makes me question the dress now. I mean for all I know, they could be selling me a $500 dress for 5 times the price!
Ugh, I feel like I am never going to find a dress....

Re: Found Dress - But Label was Cut Out!!!
It IS illegal to cut out the label and refuse to tell you who makes the dress... if you have the chuztpa, I would call or go back and tell them that what they are doing is illegal, and that if they refuse to tell you who makes the dress you inform the better business bureau and the federal trade commission... I was completely ready to do this when I went dress shopping, but fortunately I bought my dress in the first shop I went to, and they had all the labels and price tags on the dresses

Oh boy. This is exactly my story... same dress. If it is the same dress, you cannot find it because the designer is Ashley Jordan and she does not have a website. Let me guess - the price was somewhere around $2K right? Well, if it's the same dress, it's actually $650.00. They told me the designer was European... she's very much American. Is this the dress?

Wow. I am really surprised by this. I just ordered by BM's dresses from Bridal Accent and I thought this shop was a class act. Why in the world are they doing this to you? I think that if you are paying for something, you have a right to know who the designer is. Why should you pay that much money for a mystery designer? And what could be a legitimate reason for withholding the designer's name? I don't get it. I hope it works out for you though. Keep us posted.

If the dress is the same as mine, the reason they do it is so they can more than triple the price. I too thought it was a class act shop until I did the research and found out that this is what happened. Now they disgust me to no end.
NYPDsGirl, where are you? I'm dying to know if it's my dress!!

Re: Found Dress - But Label was Cut Out!!!
Me and my BMs had to do some searching as well when we went and looked at dresses w/out tags. When I asked the woman at the shop she said 'oh, we don't know the designer until you put a deposite down on the dress, then it tells us in the computer.'I felt like saying 'Lady, you can't B.S. a B.S.er'
We were able to find many of the styles online by doing searches, though. It kinda felt like we uncovered a lost mystery!
Best of luck on finding your dress!
That pretty lacy one that was posted, with the thin white bow- David's bridal had a similar one by Oleg Cassini

That sound exactly like the dress I just bought at Burtons. I found out it is made by Impressions, but it is an 'un- advertised line'Thats what they told me. Some company's do this so that you dont see the dress everywhere and it is a little more private.
By the way...Burtons price was shockingly low !!!

That's my dress - it's Ashley Jordan, an unadvertised designer of Impression. The only place I ever found it online was bridesave.com (terrible pic though).
