Found the dress i love (VENT)

I had a great experience at wedding salon manhasset. everyone was so nice and they had the dresses that i liked. So i tired on a Kenneth Pool dress and it was the dress that I was looking for . OMG beautiful then i saw the price.. So i was thinking ok it 5200 (after 15% off)so ill do some serious OT at work. I came home and told FH about the dress and he was so upset at me even thinking about buying the dress :( He said why spend so much money one one dress you'll wear one day. I mean i understand. we are both trying to safe for both wedding and to buy a place. But i tired so many dresses and This one i love!!.. just need to vent..
does anyone know where i can get a Kenneth Pool dress for less???

Gina's idea isn't bad. Try looking for a preowned dress. Personally I think $5k+ on a dress is a lot.

That's disappointing...you've got some ideas to work with though. Good luck!

some of the pre-owned were not even worn... so they are like brand new with tags still...

awwww we must have missed each other today, I left there at 2:40ish, I went to put a down payment on my Kenneth Pool gown, they're the nicest in there, I wanted to hug them all

I'm not sure where you could find it for less, but some Kenneth Pool gowns do run in the $4,000s

Good Luck with your gown search

I would also try another bridal salon. You'd be surprised in the difference in price depending on where you go.

Re: Found the dress i love (VENT)

I feel your pain. I'm prob. no help b.c I had a talk w. FH about it and we agreed that even though its only one day...the memories last a lifetime. In our case, I feel terrible about spending 5K on a dress but at the same time I know that I would feel even WORSE if years after the wedding I look back and regret not spending the extra for the one PERFECT dress.... the way I see it is, eventually I prob. would have wanted to add the vienesse hour...which ends up costing at least an extra 3K.... so the way I see it is I DEF. WONT have the VH...but instead I will use the money on ME.

Have you tried looking for gowns from other designers that might be more affordable?

By the way you have FM. Best of luck!

I understand where yoiu are coming from. I LOVE KP but I cannot afford him. I am going to try not to try on his dresses b/c I am sure I would fall in love with one and I am not willing to wear a pre-owned one. Look at line and listen up for sample sales. Good Luck!!

Re: Found the dress i love (VENT)

I have done so much KP research, there are about 10 different preowned sites and a lot of them are not just worn dresses many are samples also, look out for stores that have KP sample sales and be willing to travel.
If you really love the dress maybe you will get down to a size 10 to have it at a better price or maybe you will find a preowned in the size you are now.
When I get home, I'll FM you all the preowned/sample websites.
P.S.- Which KP is it??

sorry but i do agree with your FH....thats a ton of money for the dress...i would definitely consider a pre-owned dress or someting less expensive

Re: Found the dress i love (VENT)

i think its a totally personal decision - i would try and find a pre-owned dress for less money and id also keep looking - you never know what could happen, you might find something else....to be honest i have about 8 months until my wedding - my dress should be in by july and i dont know if i will love it as much as i did the day i tried it on and the day i ordered it - and that was only 4 months ago - now i know that if i had spent 5k on that dress i would feel A LOT worse than i feel now ive noticed that a lot of us brides are indecisive and 2nd guess our dresses, especially as the wedding gets closer - but you want to know what - the day of the wedding im going to be marrying my FH, who i love so much - and im sure the last thing i will be thinking about is if i bought the right dress - and i will love my photos and video because it will be memories from one of the best days of my life, i dont think ill look at my photos and wish that i had tried on dress xyz instead - but thats just me and everyone feels differently.....in the end its just a dress and if your budget is tight, im going to be honest - 5k IS a lot to spend - this is exactly why i didnt try on any dresses over 3k def check out the pre-owned sites who knows you may end up finding the KP dress you love for less money....in the meantime it wont hurt you to look at some less expensive dresses....good luck! i am sure you will be gorgeous bride no matter which dress you chose

Well said! This is why I always read your posts...you give great advice and make SO much sense!

Re: Found the dress i love (VENT)

Well, I think no matter what men will never understand. I look at it this way- it's your wedding. It's one day. It could be one day to you in the sense of you only get married once. So why not splurge on your dream dress. Or, you could look at it this way- it's just one day and at the end of the night, your dress will be a pile of material on the floor.

Either one of those lines could help make your desicion. I think you should look- try Marisa dresses. Marisa uses beautiful fabric and her dresses only go up to about 2K from what I have seen. Bridal Reflections carries Marisa and so does Macy's Bridal. Good luck! Maybe it's best that you don't tell FH what you are spending.
