Found the dress i love (VENT)

Original post by gisellav

I had a great experience at wedding salon manhasset. everyone was so nice and they had the dresses that i liked. So i tired on a Kenneth Pool dress and it was the dress that I was looking for . OMG beautiful then i saw the price.. So i was thinking ok it 5200 (after 15% off)so ill do some serious OT at work. I came home and told FH about the dress and he was so upset at me even thinking about buying the dress :( He said why spend so much money one one dress you'll wear one day. I mean i understand. we are both trying to safe for both wedding and to buy a place. But i tired so many dresses and This one i love!!.. just need to vent..
does anyone know where i can get a Kenneth Pool dress for less???

You can also try consignment shops. I only went to one Michael's consignment shop but it had a limited number of dresses. I did try on a few rivini dresses and vera wang dresses. There's also the bridal garden. This way you can all ahead and see if they have any KP dresses. Also i think its best to try the dress on and see the condition the dresses are in. Sometimes they're not in the best condition. Here's a link for bridal consignment shops Bridal Consignment Shops

I didn't read all of the responses, so this may have been suggested already, but is it possible to bring the design to a seamstress and have her recreate it? My aunt is a seamstress, who makes wedding gowns, and she was going to do that for me, but I found my perfect dress, for a very good price, so there was no need. But what she said was that ANY gown that is made by ANY designer would cost a seamstress way under $1000 to make. The labor will obviously add more, but I bet you can definitely get it for way less than the 5K. Give it a try!! Good Luck!!

If you really love this dress and can't see yourself parting for it then you really need to take a step back and decide if you are going to sacrifice something else in order to wear “the dress”. This is a personal decision and each one of us is very different. Would I pay 5K even if I though it was the one-No because I would never forgive myself for years to come but that is just me. I tried on a gorgeous Kenneth Pool gown for 8,500 and nearly passed out in the salon. So I told myself to shop within my price range so I wouldn’t disappoint myself. You don’t want to be upset for taking second best so if that’s the dress you want then you should sit down with your hubby and rework your budget. Good luck!

try to find a trunk show, or search for the dress online. Maybe you can find a similar dress for cheaper. I agree...$5k on a dress is crazy, but again thats my opinion.
