Fox Hollow Brides... Question about food!

Fox Hollow Brides... Question about food!

Hello-

We just booked the new room at Fox Hollow for January of 2012. We were told they don't do food tastings because they have the restaurant and you can eat there and see for yourself.

I thought this was kind of odd-- especially since the restuarant menu may not have the entrees being served at the wedding.

Can anyone let me know if the food they had was good at a wedding ( I have mostly heard great reviews, a few not so good), or if they were able to get around this and do a tasting anyways?

Thanks so much!

talk to your Banquet Manager and make sure he takes care of you at the restaurant. Ours set up a reservation for us (8 people max) and all drinks and apps were on the house we just had to pay for entrees and dessert but we skipped dessert. FH, myself, both sets of parents and 2 of our sisters came and we took advantage! we ordered basically one of every app for the table to share family style so we can taste them all and then we ordered 8 entrees we all passed around so we could taste. granted we didnt taste everything but we were able to get a pretty good idea of how it all tasted (it was all fanatastic by the way) plus the menu at the restaurant seemed to mostly consist of the same choices on the wedding menu.

Go to the Bridal Cocktail hour in the summer. You can visit the gorgeous hotel, book some rooms, enjoy the food and the dessert! They had a free raffle and favors too! So much fun!

Re: Fox Hollow Brides... Question about food!

I have to be honest... I love Fox Hollow but this part left us a bit nervous. We went to dinner at the very beginning of December along with both sets of parents. We ended up spending $250 on dinner but not all seven choices on the wedding menu are included on the restaurant menu. Also, my father and I had the shrimp scampi and we were not at all impressed. Scampi sauce should be oil, butter, wine, and garlic and traditionally it's over pasta. Ours seemed to be just grilled shrimp on a bed of rice. We really didn't get it. Shrimp scampi appears twice on the wedding menu; once as a main choice and also as part of the surf and turf selection. Overall I was a bit upset about the evening. We have a meeting scheduled with our BM and the chef this Thursday to discuss things.

I hate to bad mouth Fox Hollow. They really have been great otherwise. I would just check with them and see if they can arrange a more traditional tasting.

I was at a wedding in August and I thought the food was decent. I had some kind of chicken dish--can't remember exactly but I thought it was okay. The cocktail hour was pretty good from what I remember. I definitely don't remember the food being bad! Seemed like your usual wedding fare.

Re: Fox Hollow Brides... Question about food!

I went to a wedding there during the summer and since I'm a FH bride I was really watching things.

Overall the food was good, no complaints. I've eaten at the restaurant 2 times and the food was good as well. Pricey, but good. Anyway, below are a few things that stood out from the wedding.

-They didn't clear the plates/glasses from the table as quickly as I would have liked during the CH. It was one of those super hot summer days, so I think everybody was just chugging down drinks. Faster than people normally do at a wedding.
-I didn't like the Sweet & Sour Chicken. I thought it was very dry without much taste. I made a note not to get that for my CH.
-There was a really good mashed bean mix/dip at the cheese/cracker station. I don't know what was in it, but I liked it. Had a little kick to it though, for you non-spice lovers.
-Lobster Ravioli Appetizer-DELISHHHHH. It was sooo good, I would have licked the plate clean if I wasn't in public.
-Caesar Salad-good dressing but WAYYYY too much. FH always gets extra dressing when we go out, and he even thought it had too much dressing.
-I had the Land/Sea entree, no complaints. The shrimp were big and the meat was good. I personally like my mean more rare but it was fine.
-FH got the Tilapia and enjoyed it. We also tried somebody's duck and that was good but we don't normally eat duck, so have no comparison.
-Another guest sent back her chicken bc it was too dry and I think she said the 2nd chix was dry as well (she's annoyingly picky, esp about food). Besides the fact that who sends back food at a wedding, you have to remember they are mass producing food, it's not going to be as moist as it would at home.
-They got a new baker since the wedding, so can't comment there.

Get Willie Jr. as your bartender if you can. I asked him for a drink recommendation and he said, 'do you want to get drunk?' and winked at the FH. That started my 4 hour friendship with Willie Jr.

You're not going to have a problem with FH. If their food ******, they wouldn't be booked solid nearly every weekend.

Re: Fox Hollow Brides... Question about food!

we just had our wedding at Fox Hollow and everyone loved the food. Most got the filet, lots got the land & sea and a bunch got the duck. All thought they were great. I heard great things about the salmon too.

I loved all the cocktail hour food i tried. Our suckling pig was outstanding.

We ate at the restaurant multiple times and loved it each time. Check out my review for pics and let me know if you have any questions about anything!!
