I just spoke to Rev. Nick (he was sooo nice) and I told him I was thinking of doing a unity candle at the ceremony. He suggested that since I have 2 children from a previous marriage that a Unity Sand ceremony would prob be better.. has anyone seen this done before? It sounds nice...
We did a sand ceremony yes. It's a lovely thing to do! I really like the symbolism behind it....that your different colors of sand could never be 100% separated once they are mixed...much like the ties to your family....
A friend of mine did it with her two children and her new husband - so they had 4 colors of sand. It was LOVELY!

I booked with Dave also, he told me I would not be working with him again since he's the director. The next time I went to drop off a check I wanted to talk to someone again so they had me meet with Frank.

Quick question/concernSome of you girls said that you've mailed checks and that you get reminders of how much you owe? I've never gotten any reminders but just send checks before they're due since I'm in CT and can't go there.
Also- I called to book rooms the other day and I'm supposed to be getting a comp room the night of my wedding but they told me I wasn't in their system and that I should have my BM put me in.
WELL- My BM or the only person I ever spoke to (which was when I booked) was Dave and you can't get a real answer or hold of anyone there when you call that gives you a for sure answer.
For the girls who had a comp room the night of their wedding- did you guys go over that in your final meetings or did you make sure it was done well in advance? I ask because I want to know if maybe I'm jumping the gun and getting ahead of myself and stressed for no reason.
TIA!

I just went over my comp room actually. ALL along I was told I wasn't getting a comp room in April 2010. To get a better price I moved my wedding back to March 2010... and Ken told me 'Oh, Susan gave you the comp room for April too.' So I know my BM put it in for me.
In addition, I won a comp room from a PWP bridal showcase...

My comp bridal suite on the wedding night is actually written on my contract...ummm...so i better be getting it. i'm going to call the Inn tomorrow to book a room for the night before the wedding (since its a sunday AM wedding) I'll find out if they have me in the system.
FYI - when I spoke to the Inn @ the Chateau Briand showcase, he said if my BM put the room in the contract then I am probably already booked and taken care of.. .so we'll see tomorrow - and ill let you know!!!

Ladies i know there has been talk of cake before, but i read one girl said that her cake at the fox hollow turned out to be dry and gross....did any of you have that problem w/ your cake? Just wanted to make sure, as i know they offer an upgrade if you want and i'm contemplating going that route if the cake is as bad as some have said before...
Thanks :)

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Hi Ladies -Hopefully, I can answer some of your concerns.
Room at the Inn - When I went to do my room block at the Inn, they told me that my room was already booked and the folks at the FH (not the Inn) had my confirmation number in my file. It was written on my contact that I had a comp night.
While I'm talking about booking a room block at the Inn, be certain to go online and check the current rate (including AAA and senior citizen dicsounts). The first rate they gave me was higher than the AAA, so I was able to get a lower group rate with this information.
As for the cake. My was perfect and tasty. In fact, terrible to say, but I had it for lunch the following afternoon. Even at that point it was great and that was after sitting in a refrig over night and on a counter for part of the morning. Unless a cake is an EXTREMELY important part of your wedding for you, you should be fine with the cake from the FH.

I don't know about anyone else..but to me, just looking at the menu for cocktail hour and dinner, I don't think many people are even going to have room for cake!!!

That's 100% right. People feel OBLIGATED to have a bite of the cake, but that's about it. Also, remember, you are also having some other form of a Fox Hollow desert.
I loved our cake as well - it was very yummy!

We did a sand ceremony yes. It's a lovely thing to do! I really like the symbolism behind it....that your different colors of sand could never be 100% separated once they are mixed...much like the ties to your family....

The sand we got at Joanne's...
The vase and holders, we got at an Irish store in Pittsburgh...when we were visiting.

Re: FOX HOLLOW BRIDES - Question & Answer Thread
Does anyone know the Guest MAXIMUM for The Briar Fox room --- our guarantee was only 120 -I remember Jen telling me the # depended on whether we used round or oblong tables - I will go with whichever one allows more people ..but I'm just curious if anyone knows what the absolute MAX is for that room?? I am so nervous that we are inviting too many people and may go over the MAX!
