Re: FOX HOLLOW VS SWAN CLUB!!

we looked at both the swan club's biggest room was too small for us..we got married in church so the outside ceremony wasnt a problem for us...we are still getting compliments on the food from our guest and how everything was great...HTH

What are your other places?

r u asking me? lol

Sure! LOL

So far- anthony mill, harbor club, meadow club, timber point, WCC, east wind, hotel indigo (also trying to win party 105 contest here- vote for #104 lol), bayview house
going to- hamlet (mt sinai), windows on lake, sunset harbor, majestic gardens.

looking for an outside feel for ceremony (fox hollow we liked the inside/outside ceremony feel), 150-200 guests, neutral walls (ish), good price... good food... nice curb appeal- pretty typical!!

What I don't love about Larkfield is the ceiling. I notice things like that.

Use time to your advantage and visit EVERY PLACE you can!! You don't need to book your hall until Summer of 2012 or even September of 2012!

which ceiling? we look at ALL the rugs (haha)

As far as booking... depends on place. some have bookings as far as nov 2013 (not just from what they say, also from on here)

The ceiling in the main ballroom. It looks low. The chandeliers are nice, I just don't like those ceiling tiles.

That's funny that you look at rugs! I look at those too but ceilings more.

I know you can book that early but trust me girls, you don't want to regret it if you see another place!!! 1 year is more than enough time to get your date but if it's prime season, then just do a year and a couple months ahead. I am very happy where we booked but I wish I went to see more places, like the Inn at New Hyde Park and Old Field Club. Take time making these big decisions!!!!

Fox hollow is a bit far, but my main concern is what i have read re: multiple weddings (areas not as separate as larkfield) and rushing on here.
Thoughts?

I've heard the same thing about rushing at Fox Hollow and was concerned about that.

This is ANYWHERE that has multiple weddings. It's not so much rushing, more like hustling to get everything moving. It's not really a horrible thing.

there was another wedding the same night as us and i did not even know it..we had the garden terrace room so we had that entire side to ourselves. it wasnt a problem like i said i didnt even know until i asked my mom...the fox hollow treated us like a queen and king while dancing they gave us drinks on the danc floor and they held it while i drank and then bought it to the table...seriously a+++++++ service in our eyes

You might like Snapper Inn or even Old Field Club.

I don't recommend Majestic (food), I can explain more in a message (no offense anyone, just my opinion!)

I went to a wedding at Hamlet in Mt. Sinai and it was GREAT. The cocktail hour was outside and half inside. the ballroom was beautiful and the food was great. It did not taste catering hall-ish at all (which is what I might expect from a country club out east)
Ceremony was inside but nice.

Are you open to a daytime wedding? If so, try the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. Night time is big $$

Re: FOX HOLLOW VS SWAN CLUB!!

What type of feel are you looking for. These are two very different halls.

Both of them have more than one wedding at a time.

I have been to both and here is my feelings: (Note... I liked both of them for different reasons)

Swan Club-
-Gardens are sooo pretty
-Smaller room was too small
-Larger room- I am not sure how many people it holds but although we wanted to keep it to 150 we knew that it was not realistic. I was afraid 200 may be tight in the bigger room.
-Loved the ceremony spaces

Fox Hollow
-Conveniently located off the highways
-The feel there was more what we were looking for.
-Convenient that the hotel was right next door.

We ended up going with Crest Hollow but Fox Hollow and Swan Club were the 2nd and 3rd choices. We liked Fox Hollow more than Swan Club but it was more because of the size and the location.
