freaking out!!!!

Original post by Bride4Mike07

OK...so I read up thousands of sites regarding wording on invites....I had no idea that:
'request the honour of your presence'
was reserved for church weddings!
I'm having and outdoor spiritual ceremony...does it matter that I used that wording?

Re: freaking out!!!!

It is true, but no one really follows it. It is for when you are getting married at a place of worship. My invitation lady said it doesn't matter - so I went for that wording even though we are getting married at the hall. When it is not at a place of worship it should say 'requests the pleasure of your company.'

I've never heard of that. You are requesting their presence for the best day of your life. It shouldn't matter if it's in a church or in your yard.

I would not give that a second thought. I did not know that and I'm sure the majority of your invitees will not know that either.
