FREAKING OUT-My wedding is now impossible??!!-UPDATE

FH and I are going on our honeymoon in June though our wedding is in 19 days because I am a teacher. We applied for our passports about 3 weeks ago...NOT thinking that we were sending away our birth certificates which we need for our marriage license! I have no idea what to do...everything is planned and the most important thing is now impossible. We can't get married! What do I do? I can order a new one, pay for it, and it may not even get here on time! I called the passport services and they are no help. I waited on hold for 1/2 an hour to find out that all they can tell me is my application is in process...duh. The only way to get it expedited is to write a letter to New Hampshire....no phone/no e-mail. I AM GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK!!!

UPDATE: Thanks for all of the help, ladies! FH met me at work yesterday and we went straight to Queens! We have our marriage license!

We got our marriage license at Queens Blvd as well. All we used were drivers licenses.

Do you both have to be present? In MD, only one person has to be present, but they need to know the other persons ss#.

I am so sorry you are going through this. HOnestly, this is what sick days are for. You can take a sick day, life will go on for them, they'll get a sub. Take a sick day, take care of your paperwork, and then you will have the whole day to relax!
It will be OK.

you can get a copy of your birth certificate ... just go to town hall. My FH had to do it ... just realize it may take a good part of the day.

I take the Northern State and Grand Central home from work in Queens every day. At around 2:30pm going from Long Island to Queens you should hit little to no traffic. Even when I got out of work at 2 I wouldn't hit traffic heading out to Long Island, now I leave at 3:30 and its a different story, but since you are going the opposite direction of the traffic you should make it no problem. Just try to have FH there as soon as you get out of work.

yeah i agree, i think if you leave at 2:30 you'll get there in time. You'll definitely be there by 4 the latest and i doubt it will even take that long. But if by any chance you check the traffic report before leaving, try traffic.com, and by chance its bad that day just take the LIRR. You can take it to the Kew gardens stop and then you can walk there from the LIRR stop, its just a few blocks away.

If you get your marriage license in NYC you do not need your birth certificate.. Your drivers license will suffice..

You should def either take off or leave at lunch time and explain your situation to your principal. Im sorry- but this is more important than worrying about not being there one day. I know- I've felt guilty in the past... but I had to take a day off as a leave replacement b/c I had something important to do and I took off. Just let them know your situation and they will understand and be able to get another sub to cover you that day.

I have also gone to the Queens office and they have only asked for my license. Please do whats more important right now and get it done so that you can enjoy the weeks leading up to your wedding and be able to enjoy your special day

I was born in queens and i ordered my birth certificate over the phone and had it expressed delivered to me. It took like a week and a half. This was a year ago but maybe they still do it?

Not sure if you will be reading this today, but if you do and are driving, you can just take southern state to the meadowbrook pkwy, which will lead you to northern state...then you can follow espo's directions...
