Freaking Out!! Opinions Please!!!

So I went to visit the on site florist at my RH over the weekend and found out some major news. Apparantly, they are doing a major renovation on my CH and Reception room. They are closing it all down from mid december to the beginning of March. It is going to be a 2 million dollar renovation and they apparently have an amazing design team but I am still extremely upset!!!
FH and I went to look at tons and tons of RHs and picked this one because it was exactly what we wanted. Now I have no idea what the place is even going to look like! THey said they will have renderings by next month but it wont be ready to look at in person until two months before the wedding.

I mean, I am sure it is going to look amazing, but I dont know if its going to be what I was looking for. The ballroom had a very old paris feel and now they said they are changing it to a more 'modern and updated' look. I honestly have no idea what to do.

Is it bridezilla of me to be freaking out? What would you ladies do? They already have a good chunk of change from us. I'm so confused!!!

I dont think this is bridezilla of you at all...

you picked this place based on what you wanted and have a right to be upset.

I would be freaking out as well!

I agree. If you chose the place based on decor...then i would be upset.

no way..... freak out... they should have told you when you booke dthat they were changing it, i would ask to see blue prints or something. they ahve to have some sort of art work.

i would want to know now what it is going to look like. that is not right!!

that happend to my aunt... that they sold the place a few months befor eher wedding and the name changed.. and they never told her... until we went there a week before ans saw it.. we had to call everyone and tell them it wasnt the same anme any more so no one was confused

I'd freak out too! I would call the BM and ask if they have models, blue prints, decor sketch of what they intend for the room to look like.

What bothers me also is that if I hadn't gone for my floral appointment that day I would have had no idea.

When I tried to express concern they kind of had the attitude like its going to be new and nicer and better, whats the problem, which I guess is true but I still feel like I paid for something and now I am getting something totally different. Not to mention this place was way out of our budget and FH and I are totally busting our butts to do some supersaving so we can have it there!!!

ew, i can't believe they didn't tell you this was going to happen when you booked!! they must have known??

i would be really upset too. but at least everything will be all pretty and new for your wedding...and i'm sure they will want to keep the style of the place the same so i bet it will look very similar to the way it looks now!!

sounds like something i would freak out over as well...but think positively since like you said they already have a good amount of your $$$...the renovation could mean better things, 2 million is 2 million and things can get rather prettied up for you too, don't waste energy worrying, use it dreaming up how what you saw could be improved upon and hope that's whats happening

oooh. Something similar happened to me....

Fortunately the renovations were kept in theme with with they orginally had...

But my BM told me they were going to do renovations even before I signed the papers. I'd give them a call and voice your concerns...

Thank you ladies for making me feel like Im NOT crazy.

I was hoping it would look at least similar but they said they were going to change the entire feel of the ballroom, cocktail hour room shouldn't change too much, so I'm happy about that.

They are supposed to have some pics next month, hopefully I will like it. If not I'm not sure what my next step would be. Do you think I still have to honor my contract???

Wait to see how the pictures are and then make a decision. The problem will be though, finding a place in the prime season that will be free and open to your budget.

Girl I would be going crazy as well. It would be better if they at least had something to show you so you could see what was planned. 2M is a lot of renovation or at least a costly one.

id be upset too.. I would without a doubt call and ask to see what the place is going to look like...that is wrong on their end for not telling you...

they should have DEFINITELY informed you of their plans as soon as they were finalized - that is terrible!

but i know this is hard to do - but maybe you should trust them . . . you are going to have a brand new place!! think of it as a positive instead of stressing out about it ( i know, easier said then done!)

I would def be upset. They have to at least give you the details of the colors of the room. Otherwise how will you know what flowers will match.

don't panic, I'm sure it will be beautiful. Meet with your banquet manager and have him or her show you the plans and ask how this will affect you

i would def freak out too!! bc u picked it bc u loved it the way it was and now you dont know what it will look like! but im sure they will make it look beautiful and you will prob love it even more..can they show u pics of what they are envisioning it to look like or something?
