FREAKING OUT OVER WHERE WE ARE GONNA LIVE

I dont know if im the only one but I am stressing about where we are going to live and how we are gonna come up with MORE $$$. The wedding is consuming more than half.......

Anyone else feel this way ?

Right there with ya! We can stay where we are, but would really like to have our 'own' place...

(We're in the second-floor apartment in FH's mom's house... It's huge, but...)

we both still live at home now.....we are going to start stressing about the housing situation after the new year...if a house happens to come along that is a great deal, we will see what we can do financially....otherwise, we will rent until we find something after we get married!

same here.

You are not alone!!! FH and I both live at home right now, and we cannot justify renting an appt (which would be the same amount for a mortgage payment) after we get married. So....we are starting the house hunting thing with our real estate agent... All this money going out the door seriously makes me sick

not us.
we have a house already buttttttttttttttttttt the freakin mortgage is huge(freakin school tax) so because of that im freakin out about payments to vendors

FH & I live together in an apartment downstairs from my parents.

pros: we live together in a very affordable apartment

cons: my family doesn't see the boundary lines & we have a lot of noise problems.

we are in the same boat as you. we have no idea where we are going to live after we get married. however, we are not looking until FH is finished with school & has a steady income, which wont be until January. so even after we are married we will most likely still be living in the same apartment.

& it doesn't help that every time someone in my family, mom, dad, & my brother see anything for sale, they tell me to look at it.

I stress out about this constantly...

I am in Brooklyn but sort of want to move back to LI... but FH wouldn't want to go too far east b/c he works late and the commute will be hell...

Our lease is up in Nov... though I'd love to leave sooner since we are having some issues with the place (imagine a huge hole in your bathroom ceiling).

We wanted to buy but now it probably won't happen before our lease is up.. so unless we can go month to month (but UGH i want to get out of there) we may have to find another rental for now...

Oh and another twist.. fh would prefer to stay in BK... but we can't really afford enough space there... so queens is an option... but if we do that might as well consider LI.....which is looking better to mee

OOOOOOOHHH welcome to my world - FH is from BK and I am in Plainview......FH hates queens for whatever reason and BK is absolutely not in our price range and there is no property! The compromise is the beginning of LI, like New Hyde PArk, Rockville Centre, etc.....I love BK but the prices they charge are unreal.....homes near FH go for like $800k and up!??!??! WHAT??!?!?! You can find a nice house with a great school district and a nice size yard in LI for half that price!

Ahhh good luck to YOU too!!!!!

It is absolutely insane that for the same price you can live in a closet in Brooklyn... or a nice little house on LI (where you can fit all of your nice married-people things and have room to breathe as well). I love BK too but it's just not realistic..sigh.

We were also thinking something like Rockville Center could be a viable option.. the train ride isn't too bad to the city....

We're staying in our apartment till after the wedding.

Don't bite off more than you can chew. Unless you're in need of a new place right this second, stay put.

we live together now in an apt complex which is basically a mortgage payment!! Problem is a down payment on the damn house which we cant save for right now cause of the wedding.

Were going to extend our lease 6 months on our apt and then buy a house approximatly 6 months after the wedding with what we make from the wedding and some house fund we will save in 3 months or so.

ummmm.............YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FH & I were going to wait till after the wedding to buy but recently decided we cant wait. We are going to miss out on the market at such a prime time & will kick ourselves later. So yeah we are both freakin out!
