freaking out ~~~!!!! UPDATE

the guest list is up to 234 douglaston manor grand ballroom says it hold up to 240 but every past bride i talk to says anything over 150 will be tight. I am so upset i cant even speak. Even with last minute cancellations and nos i am looking at prob 200 people. i am hysterically crying at my desk bc this was FH biggest concern about the RH and i ignored him bc i just wanted my wedding there. I talked it over with bm and we talked about maximizing space :
going to use oval skinny tables that sits 12, no dais, and setup dj in a side pocket of room and setup bar in another room. i am sure in the end it will all work out...... i am just so upset bc i should have not invited all these people or picked a diff place and listened to fh . i am so mad at myself... thanks for listening

my wedding is going to be like webster hall in the 90's = a hot sticky mess:(

So fh and I went to DM this weekend and Tom settled all my fears. He showed me exactly how all the people could fit comfortable and i am very happy. The place for the ceremony is all set and so is the backup if its raining. I am very excited and feel much better . thanks for all your words!!

Don't be upset about it, it will all work out just fine I am sure your RH has dealt with this plenty of times and know how to best maximize their space. It is for them to worry about, not you.

You never know, maybe you will have alot more No's then you estimated.

My RH told me that the room I am getting married in can hold up to 300ppl.. when I look at it I think there is no way.. that 150 would be crowded.. but they obviously make it work somehow for them to tell me that.

Aww don't 'freak out' it sounds like they have some good ideas on maximizing space. On the bright side, just think that everyone that is special to you and FH are going to be able to make it to your special day!!!

dont worry everything will work out! if they RH say's they can hold 240 and you are figuring about 200 i think you will be fine!

Oh Dana dont be upset... Im sure not everyone will go, and you are probably looking at 200 MAX! and if your RH says 240 is the max in the room, Im sure you have some wiggle room.. dont stress. Is that the biggest room they have?

Yes its the biggest. my step mom suggested the cocktail hour room be the rom we use for dancing since the main room is going to be crowded we r going to DM this wekend for a payment so we will see what our BM says. i cant believe how upset i am and that i cant calm down grrrr

i would find every review from every site i could find and try to find out how many people those girls had

i would also talk 2 the rh.get it in writing how many he is saying it can hold with out overcrowding and also ask to see some photos or anything of past brides who had 200 people in it

also dont just look up wedding there,look up any events that they might have held,see how many people they held

Did you already send out your invites? Is there anyway you can cut down the guest list some more. Maybe by not inviting single people with guests or not inviting people from work?

Don't freak out!!!! You are going to be all good!! First of all, I agree with Gina, and think you will be fine if it's 200 people. Also, you may get more than 34 no's believe it or not. I am SO sure it's going to be absolutely fine, DM IS used to this!! It's going to be all good!!!

Don't stress! I think they say that normally about 20% of those invited say no. If I'm right about the 20% that would mean that you can expect about 47 no's. So you would be comfortably under 200 and then there's always at least a couple people who RSVP yes but don't show. Also keep in mind that the times where EVERY SINGLE person will be in the room at the same time are few, people will be in the bathroom, outside smoking, ect.

Either way, don't stress about it now. When you start getting responses back you have a better idea if it's something you need to worry about or not!

Awww Dana...don't worry....If they say they can 240, 200 will be fine. I'm sure DM has had large parties before and it has all worked out.

i think it will be fine. you never know in the end how many ppl won't be able to make it for one reason or another.

i used banquet tables at my RH (the long oblong ones) and they worked out PERFECTLY. i didn't need as many tables and it worked out fine! don't stress or officially change the floor plan until you talk to your BM and see what they say. don't stress!!!!

Dont freak out. We invited about the same number you did (A&B lists combined) and we just gave our final count and its 166 total...we didnt even hit our minimum.
