As I've posted, we just bought a house and the previous owners had some huge mirrors in the living room. They had these ugly overlays but underneath are floor-to-ceiling mirrors that are in perfect condition. We have no use for them but I thought someone might - or might know someone who can use them. Even a hair salon or other retail biz would probably love them. There are 4 of them and the appx dimensions are 7 x 2 1/2 feet. I would just need them taken away sooner than later, our backyard is starting to look like a junkyard and we need to clean it up. I'd rather give them away than just trash them. I'm in Massapequa Park.
FM me if you are interested but I may be off line for a few days starting Thursday.

Re: Free! Anyone want some huge mirrors?
I figured I might not get any responses but it was worth a shot...
I'll still be able to get online for today only just in case I do have any takers

I'm not interested.. but it sounds like you bought a house from either an Italian family or a Jewish family (both have an affinity for mirrors)... and BOTH are pretty much the majority of what Massapequa is made up of (I grew up there- my ENTIRE block was Italian)....

Italian
Our painter has been there for a few days and he told me someone stopped by who was a friend of the old owner and left her # if I had any questions on the neighborhood. He said she let out a huge gasp of horror when she saw that we took down the wall of mirrors.
Apparently there are lots of cops & firemen in Mass Park too. Down the street, there are 3 houses in a row of FNDY firefighters. DH was happy, he probably knows them, he always knows someone somewhere.

' she let out a huge gasp of horror when she saw that we took down the wall of mirrors. ' I could just picture this little old lady being horrified over the mirrors coming down.
I would say out of the 100 or so houses we saw between Massapequa and Wantagh a good 50% of them either had the mirror wall or the dark paneling. We got the panneling. How did you get the mirrors off the wall?

Sorry, I don't need the mirrors either, but wanted to add that mirrors are expensive, so you might want to consider buying frames and having the mirrors cut to fit the frame, and it can be used anywhere in the house. We also did that when we moved into our house, and now we have a great oval shaped mirror in the entry way to our home.

We had huge wall mirrors in the dining room and bedroom...we're in Wantagh and the previous owner was Greek. Ours were siliconed onto the walls in so many places that the guys we had from a World of Mirror and Glass had to cut them off the walls and were only able to suction them off in some spots!

Sasha - luckily these were not adhered to the walls in too many places. What a nightmare!
First these mirrors were screwed in (those ugly overlays I mentioned in the first post) and then the underlying mirrors were glued? Maybe they were siliconed ?? But DH got them down - I was quite impressed with his handiwork. Our painter did an incredible repair job on the damaged spots to the wall. The wall looks great.
LOL!!! Who knew they were so popular...we figured they were up there forever. Actually, the overlay style looked very outdated. Either way, their gone.
Whew!!

I work with someone whose sister is thinking about opening her own hair salon. I'll ask her on MOnday.
