Well...I took advantage a little.
I ordered a ham and brie with mayo and arugula on black bread sandwich...
Pasta with tomatoes and ricotta cheese salad.
And a banana, strawberry, coconut smoothie.

when my boss is out i am not allowed to leave the office. (she's the office manager) so she's been out sick for three days and i am to order lunch when she is out.

The free food is good, but doesn't that get annoying. I'm always running errands on lunch. I hate when I have to cover phones during.
Actaully , I hate covering phones at all, but thats'a whole other story.

If I hate my job it's not because I have to stay in for lunch on days when my boss is out.
I appreciate the free lunch on those days. It's a nice thing.

I was goign to start a I hate my job
thread, but I figured no one wanted to hear it.
I work in academic publishing. Its a small company. They exepct too much froma deaprtment of 3. What I do is done my different departments in other comanies.
I am work under the head of the departmetn, so I ahve a lot of responsibilty & very little authority, and I am constantly being contrradicted. I do more entry level phoen reception work thant I did when I started, b/c they are too cheap to re-hire a receptionist.
I'm always the last to know when policies change, when people are away, etc, so I am always giving incorrect information out. It is also a big pass the buck comapany.
I also have to deal with authors whao re porfessors & live in their own worls & treat us like crap, b/c they are not onthe best seller list.
I've been here almost 6 years, but I don't know what else to do. I have little interest in working anywhere in marketing or publishing.

It's just not my field. I'm an awful sales person, especially when I don't care about the product.
I don't really care bout the publsihing world, like what other companies are up to & things like that. Publishers Weekly is about as boring as Golf Digest to me.
I jsut work hear because they are the first palce that called be back when I sent resuesm out after college. This is the only place I even interviewed at.
