if you go to a free tasting, do you leave a tip?? If so, about how much assuming the bride, groom and one parent each attend? TIA

I went to a 'tasting' during my menu planning, but we did it in the restaurant area of our reception site, so we had a waitress who just brought us drinks and bread. We just had hors d'eourves and she didn't really have us as a 'table'... just the drinks and basket of bread (which was SO good!). Our banquet manager brought out the one platter of hors d'eourves. For the 4 of us, I just left $10 for the waitress since I didn't want her to feel like it was a waste helping us with no bill.
I don't THINK you would normally leave a tip, though, for a tasting.
HTH!! . Have fun!!!

Re: free tastings
We went to a free tasting at CLM in August. We left a tip for our waitress because she did serve us and got us our drinks and we felt so terrible because it was during that ridiculous heat wave when everyone's electricity was going out and of course the power was out at CLM and the only generator that didn't work was the one hooked up to the AC. So these poor girls had to wear their tuxes with white gloves in this 90 degree room... we tipped them extra for that.
Just because it's free, doesn't mean no tip IMO.

Re: free tastings
we didn't tip. there were 6 of us but the maitre d' who takes care of everything the day of did EVERYTHING. there wasn't a waitress helping him or anything. he's kind of a big honcho in the place so i'm pretty sure he gets paid well. plus we didn't do a tasting until AFTER we booked... so they'll be getting enough $$ from us.

Hey we went to this tasting too! Yes we left them a tip as well. They were so attentive it would have been wrong not to, IMO.

If there is someone serving you then you need to tip them, but if it is one of those that is set up as a buffet then I wouldn't

We tipped the Waiter....$20.00 for just the three of us.
Hopefully that was enough!

We didn't think of it till we were there and didn't have a lot of cash on hand. We did leave a tip though, I think like $35 for 6 of us, I wish it could have been more but thats not bad for what an hour of work...
