French Wording

French Wording

I wish I took French in school!

FH's family is from Canada and speak French. I need to send save the dates. Does anyone know the correct way to write:

Save the date

and

Formal invitation to follow

I went on those translation websites but they are not always correct.

I've already figured out how to write the actual date and I think it's correct:
Le 17 juillet 2009

Thanks! Hopefully someone out there is fluent in French!

My family is from Canada too. We have a house in Quebec. My mom is fluent...me not so much. I will ask her and she if she knows how to write it. I will let you know.

How do these sound?

Save the Date = Sauvez la date

Formal invitation to follow = L'invitation formelle pour suivre

The date is right as well. Hope this helps

Re: French Wording

OK, I need you guys again...
Is Sauvez la date pour notre noce = Save the date for our wedding?

Also, in french is the date done differently. I believe the day goes first then the month. Am I correct?
17/7/09?

I took French in school. This looks about right.

Hmm...I took french in school too and I still am (6 yrs total)...I think it's l'invitation formelle a (with the accent that goes from left to right) suivre

and although sauvez does mean to save I don't think it means save in the sense that you want it...I think gardez would be more appropriate here....

I can ask my french teacher if you'd like and double check for you :)

am I too little too late?

Re: French Wording

yes the date should be written in european format, day//month//year
If its not i dont think its a big deal, there is no month represented by the number 17, they can figure it out then!!

Re: French Wording

OMG....this is so annoying....
So, I hear that the correct way should be

A mettre dans votre agenda notre mariage.

what the heck?
