Because of budget reasons, I may be looking at either a Friday night or Sunday night wedding.
Church would be around 3pm on both days. Cocktail hour would most likely start at 6pm and the reception will end around 11:30pm on both nights.
The scenarios:
For Friday: My bridal party will have to take off both Thurs and Fri from work (since some are OOT) for the rehearsal dinner the night before and the wedding. But both the bridal party and wedding guests would have Saturday to recouperate and travel back home etc.
For Sunday: My bridal party and guests would only have to take off Monday (if they wanted/needed to). But I'm just worried that some wedding guests will need to leave early to get ready for work the next morning.
Not sure which scenario is better?? Thoughts?

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
JMO I personally prefer Friday. I am having a Friday Night wedding. At first I was a little uneasy with having it on a Friday night, but i really wanted my reception hall...but my mother reassured me that, the people who love you..and are most important to you..will come to your wedding no matter what day you get married on. also once your invites are sent out...people will have plenty of time to plan accordingly. IMO, I would prefer Sunday. I wouldn't leave early because of work, and I would rather be a little tired the next day than take off one day/half a day from work for the Fri wedding.

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
We had a Sunday night wedding. Only a few people left early. Most of DH's family is from oot we sent out STDs a year in advance to give people time to schedule accordingly. Personally Friday evening weddings are tough for me b/c my hours can be unperdictable and many times I get stuck without notice...same for my husband.

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
We did a Friday night in the summer. worked out well b/c alot of my friends are teachers and were off... and alot more had summer fridays. Those that didn't have either just did a half day on Friday which from my experience working Friday afternoon's are dead in the summer anyway.
It worked out great for us but you have to know what will work for your guests!

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
this is just preference but we had the same dilema and we chose sunday...
the main reason is that i want ppl to come to the church! I know when i get an invite for a friday wedding i hardly ever go to the ceremony but on a sat or sun i always go! Fridays are hard for ppl bc of work... I also have 2 bridesmaids from out of state and they would have to talk off thur and fri like you said and on a sunday they only have to take mon (not in my case they have to take fri and mon bc church only does rehearsal on thur or fri)..
we are having the wedding from 5 to 10 so that its not too late and ppl dont leave early!

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
we ended up going with saturday day to save money, and also although people have to wake up a little earlier at least they have sunday to relax. but either option is good, whatever you can afford, your friends and family will be there

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
I am having a sunday wedding because i want my out of town guests to be able to have a day to travel and my wedding is now a 'weekend affair' rather than just one day. It all depends on your preference

I would personally do a Friday night. People can stay out later since they will probably be off on Saturday.

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
I've actually been to 2 weddings the past two Sundays, and both were verry nice, but you can tell that people were laying low more than they would a Fri/Sat night because most of them have to go to work the next day. At least on a friday they have all day Saturday to relax and recover from their hangover... now given, it makes a big difference who your guests are, but from what I've seen the last 2 weeks, I think Friday would prob be a better bet...

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
Maybe you should consider getting married on a Holiday weekend! The majority of my guests are OOT, and I was afraid they wouldn't make it into town in time for the rehearsal dinner, so I decided to get married on a Sunday night of a 3 day weekend. A few venues raised their prices slightly for a 'holiday sunday,' (increase of $10), but others didn't.
As a wedding guest, I think I would rather go to a Sunday wedding, instead of a Friday. But either way, the people that love you will be there!
Good luck!

For myself, I would choose a Sunday wedding.
But it's totally up to you.

Re: Friday night vs. Sunday wedding
Thanks so much everyone!! Though I think everyone's viewpoints have made me even more confused
I think I just need to sit down and evaluate my guests and think about what's 'right' for the overall population. Though, I'm definitely going to do what makes me and FH the happiest!!
