DH and I were just invited to a wedding in January on a Friday night. Which is more appropriate, a long (ankle length) or short (right above the knees) dress???? Or is either OK as long as it's formal??? I haven't been to a Friday night wedding in so long, I don't know what the 'fashion rules' are and I need to go shopping soon....thank you ladies!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think it matters what day of the week it is. I would go with whatever you like best. Unless it says black tie or anything like that then either one goes. As long as its formal.

I don't know why people think the day the wedding is held on makes any difference on what you wear. Its a wedding so dress appropriately.

It's a fair question if you tend to go to day weddings and a Friday night wedding is a change for you.

I've seen people wear either to Friday Night Weddings (always formal though). But for ME, I definitely stick with that 'rule', that if it's a DAY wedding ya wear knee length, NIGHT wedding floor length (no matter what day of the week it is)

Where is the wedding? Also, does the invite say anything about black tie, formal, etc? If it does not, then you can wear a short dress. If it's formal, you need to wear long.

I would wear the long one. I dont think the day of the wedding has anything to do with the formality of it. If you would wear it on a Saturday night you should wear it on a Mon-Sunday night as well. A night time wedding is a night time wedding no matter the day of the week.

i dont think the day matters AT ALL.. if the invite says formal attire than wear a long dress.. if not a short dress could be appropriate for both friday and saturday...

a wedding is a wedding regardless if it takes place on a Friday or not.. so as long as the dress is formal go w/ what length you feel comfortable

honestly i dont think the night of the week matters... if it's an evening affair at a fairly fancy reception hall, it's a formal event. jmo

Thanks Ladies!!!!!!! After I ask the bride what color the BP is wearing I will be goin shoppin...for a formal but probably not floor-length dress. Depends what the stores have to offer P.S. She is getting married at Jericho Terrace

I think either would be approriate as long as its a nice formal dress. My wedding is on a Saturday in January, I would hope that most women would wear formal dresses either length.
