Re: Friday Night Weddings

it is honostly what you feel comfortable with...think of traveling where are your guest coming from? most people work on fridays and if they work in the city think about what time the guest get out of work...only your closest family like parents siblings are going to take the day off of work to come to your ceremony....so if you are getting married in a church just say the church starts at 5 and then not many people will come to that would that bother you?

CH usually starts at 8pm for a friday wedding which isnt too bad for people getting home from work around 6 having to get ready for your wedding and then traveling maybe they will be a little late for the CH but be there by the reception dinner....

my engagement party is on a friday night....i am getting married on a saturday because it is what i ALWAYS wanted.....

but it all depends on what you can afford what you are willing to spend on your wedding day and how you feel about your guest traveling

i have been to friday weddings and they are just as beautiful as saturday and just as beautiful as sunday.....THURSDAY is becoming a popular night for weddings too?!!

yah i mean i was hoping that if i send out a save the date in advance people can just take off of work and stuff way in advance but the problem is the place i'm having it people will most likely have to stay at a hotel and i'm wondering if people will complain about that? plus we would get married at the place so i think that would start at like 7, i haven't even set a date yet, i'm torn between so many places!

Im having a Friday night wedding and even though we did think of the people coming home from work and having to 'rush' etc.., it was more affordable for us and that is why we did it. Send out your STD's so people will have time to plan and then dont worry. Its a day for the two of you thats the most important thing. A MAJORITY of your friends and family will be there in time for everything.

My MOH had a Friday night wedding. She let us know the MINUTE she had a date (i was her MOH) because those of us in the bridal party had to take off of work, obviously. It worked out just fine, but a lot of people didn't go to the ceremony because of the timing.

Being that you will be getting married at your RH (i am too) - maybe you should have your invites timed a half hour earlier. My ceremony starts at 6:30 - but our invites say 6:00. Our BM suggested this so that during the ceremony - people aren't walking in late, etc.

I'm having a friday night wedding. We originally wanted to do a sat. night however, since we are paying for it ourselves, it just wasnt within our reach. We debated for a while over the whole friday night thing, and decided 'oh well, its what we can afford and if they come they come, if they dont oh well' Th reception hall is pretty local for most of our guests so i dont think its going to be a problem...plus when we mention friday nights to family/friends, no one seems to find it to be a problem

My BM said this also.

Alot of places did also mention Thursday night weddings being more popular but was more concerned then with people having work the next day. Ours is the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend so the people who do take off will have a 4 day weekend

I have getting married on a friday. the main reason is because we fell in love with our rh and it was just to much for a sat wedding. As for people taking off work to come, i think that if someone really wants to be at your wedding they will take off work. We just plan on letting people know in advance. But we are very close to our families and we know that all the important people will be there. Our ch starts at 7pm and we are getting married in a church and that starts at 4pm.

We are getting married on a Friday night and most of my guests are from OOT and I contacted most of them right after I booked it and they all reassured me that no matter when and where my wedding was, they would be there! Also Im getting married on Fri. of Memorial Day Weekend, where most people get a half day anyway! You could always shoot for something like that! Hey, technically its the same party and food as a Sat. night, just a LOT less money!

We actually booked a saturday, and then thought maybe it would be worth it to do a friday, because of the money...but with my RH is wasn't really going to save us that much money, so in the end it is a saturday.

I think friday night weddings are fine!! If that is what you can afford, then go for it!!

We're also getting married on a Friday night

It saved us a ton of money; we're paying for it all ourselves

Dont sweat it - the ppl that are truly close to you and care, will make it - plus STD's should give ppl some advanced notice to plan

i am having a friday night wedding, everything will be at my RH and it all starts at 6:30 i am sending out std`s now so i figure anyone that has work has plenty of advance to make sure they can get out a few hours early. it`s what we can afford so if people can`t make the ceremony the reception starts at 8 they can come then.

So many of the weddings I have been to were on a Friday night. I think people are very used to them, to me there really is no difference. If its gonna save you money I say go for it
