FH and I are looking at ways to save money and one RH was pushing Friday night saying that more people show up on time on a Friday than a weekend wedding. IDK.
Did any Brides do it? how was the RSVP-rate?
Any one against it? Thoughts?
I almost feel Friday is better than Sunday, because Sunday ppl may leave early for work on Monday.
I appreciate hearing any feedback on your feeling about this....even if you were a guest.
TIA!

As a guest, I would prefer Friday night over a Sunday night wedding. JMO

Friday nights are usually fine in regards to the reception. My biggest concern for a Friday would be whether or not people will take off from or leave early from work to make the ceremony.

I agree with Gina....in today's time, you have to do what's best for YOU and your budget....and truly, people will come if they want to....
My attitude for my wedding is...you come you come, you don't you don't...and that is attitude towards family too.
Do what's best for YOU! and YOUR Wallet!

I agree.....I say Friday Weddings are better. And don't worry about who's going to be late or not.....The people who want to be there on time, will be there on time.
Do whatever works for the both of you....not what you think works for your guests =)

Re: Friday NIght weddings
I had a Friday night wedding. What I did was that I had the ceremony in the RH as well and it started at 7. Everyone had time to get there from work and I had about 240 guests. I had tons of ppl coming in from OOT and they had the weekend to enjoy in NY or to drive home and relax before the work week.

Re: Friday NIght weddings
I'm having a Friday night wedding as was THINKING about a sunday night one.
I think it's easier for people to leave work early on Friday then come in late or take off on a Monday.
I'm having it on Yum Kippur weekend so i'm hoping that traffic will be less around rush hour since public schools are closed, colleges are 1/2 days and a lot of people leave work early anyway. i'm inviting kids but i didn't account for the fact that all the kids i'm inviting are enrolled in catholic school lol.
If your looking for the fall of 10 check out that weekend if possible.

Re: Friday NIght weddings
i was originally against friday night weddings bc i didn't want to make people take off work, esp OOT guests.
however, the price difference is so significant that we went with a friday. I am now ok with the decision bc many people have told me they actually like the friday wedding. They have saturday to recover and travel and then still have sunday to do whatever they want...it doesnt kill the whole weekend!
i also figured that the ppl that are most important will be there no matter what day we plan it!

Re: Friday NIght weddings
I am having a Friday night wedding and I am glad I did, for many reasons....
1. well I am starting late ceremony at 5:30 and CH at 8:30 so most people will be there 2. it is cheaper most Sundays are often even less but I didn't want people to leave early or not have as much fun bc of work the next day 3. If you don't leave for you HM right away you still have more than one day to recover before back to reality 4.most people want to celebrate on Fridays work is over they weekend has begun and they are at a fabulous place with great food and drinks...
I might be bias but I like Friday weddings 1 HTH

Re: Friday NIght weddings
It was between a Fri and Sun for me also. I went to a Fri wedding in Oct and it was kinda a pain to leave work early and then fight rush hour traffic, but her ceremony started at 5:30 so if you go a bit later than that it would be better.
I'm getting married the Sun of Labor Day weekend, so everyone has MOn off. Tis was also better for me than a Fri because I have tons of OOT guests that would have to come in even earlier for the rehearsal.
HTH!!!

I had a friday night wedding, and I invited 90 people, got 5 nos, and only 3 didnt show up on the day of. I think if they want to be there, they will be no matter the day.

i don't think it matters what day you have your wedding. the people that want to be their, will no matter when or where it is.

Re: Friday NIght weddings
Definately do a Friday over a Sunday - You will spend the last hour of your reception saying goodbye to people because they leave early on a sunday, and if you have a Friday you will be talking about where the after party will be

Re: Friday NIght weddings
I'm having a Friday night wedding as well. I definitely wanted to have my wedding at night and the difference in price between the Friday and Saturday it just made sense to have it Friday. My ceremony starts at 7:30 PM at the RH and CH starts at 8PM. The more and more I talk about with my friends, they are excited about it being on Friday, more time to party and then more to recooperate.
HTH!
