Which do you think is a better day for a wedding if you can't afford the Saturday? Especially if you have people coming from PA and NJ to either Queens or LI (haven't decided on my place yet!)

Friday nights. I'm not a big fan of Sunday night weddings, especially for those that have to travel far. Unless it's a long weekend.

Friday, for sure!! (Unless it's a holiday weekend where everyone has Monday off, then I'd say Sunday)

If you have people travelling in, Sunday afternoon or twilight.
Fridays are very difficult traffic wise in the evening!

We did Friday for 2 reasons. 1: sometimes it is eve cheaper than Sunday, and 2: people do NOT have to go to work the next day!
The people who are close to you wil not be concerned about it being on a Friday night, as we soon discovered!

IMO, Friday night tends to be a bit more of a party atmosphere than a Sunday. However, most guests miss the ceremony on a Friday if they can't take off from work. Sundays are very nice, just a different 'vibe' than a nighttime affair.
Oh wait, if you mean a Sunday night then I would DEFINITLY pick a Friday. I could never get up for work on Monday after a Sunday night wedding. Thats just me though - I'm sure there are plenty of girls having Sunday weddings.

I got married on a Friday night & everyone is there- I have heard of people getting married during the day during the week b/c it's so expensive in NYC

I had the same problem, and Friday night didn't seem like the best idea to me. If I had to do an evening, I would have chosen Friday so people weren't leaving at 9pm (which will happen if you do it sun. night). Instead, I'm doing it Sat. afternoon. many people are coming to stay the night at the hotel on Fri. night. I say look into an afternoon, esp. if the place has a nice outdoor location that is pretty during the day. Unless you have your heart set on a nighttime wedding.

I am having a Sunday wedding - it was hard to chose between the 2 but I figure that people who lived far (My FI family is in NJ, NC, and CA and my bridesmaids are in Boston) they would have to take a day off from work anyway so either Fri or Monday didn't matter. People will celebrate with you NO MATTER WHAT DAY YOU CHOSE!

I am a Friday bride so that gets my vote. I have people coming from out of town too and they are happy abput staying the weekend.
