Friday or Sunday night which do you prefer??

Keep in mind it is will be summertime on LI (traffic?) and there will be quite a few people from OT. Thanks for taking part

I am going with a Sunday night wedding. I always feel so tired on Friday nights so I just thought that Sunday might be a better choice for me.

Our church is 3:00 and the reception is 6:00-11:00 this way it is not too late for people to get back because they have to work the next day.

We have a lot of OOT guest coming also, either way they are going to have to take off a day if they come to the wedding...either Friday or Monday.

I would prefer Friday...even after working that day ( if needed) I always want to really have fun at a wedding and then be able to sleep late the next day or not have to get up!

Definitely Sunday night...that is the opinion of someone who fights traffic from LI to Staten Island EVERY Friday night!!!! NIGHTMARE!

Friday night!! Traffic in the summer will be bad no matter what day. And I like the fact that you have all weekend to recover if you want to party. JMO

Definetly Friday. I know I can stay in and sleep the next day. On sunday I don't think I would be able to enjoy it as much

I say sunday... esp if monday is a holiday
We have gone to many friday weddings and everyone is so tired from work that it takes forever to get the party started. And IMO traffic is worse on friday then sunday

I choose Friday unless Monday is a holiday. It is a nice way to kick off the weekend. But realistically if I were going to a wedding either day I would take off the Friday of or the Sunday after. Thats just me though.
What works best for you?

Edited to say if you do a Friday wedding you can take Saturday for yourselves to finish packing etc for a Sunday departure to your HM

I chose Sunday. I can't imagine getting to a wedding on time on Long Island on a Friday night (I work in Manhattan). I wouldn't leave any earlier if the wedding was on a Sunday. I have a wedding to go to this Sunday night and am so glad that I have Saturday to prep.

Whatever you choose, people will come and party. I went through the same dilemna. I ended up with a Sunday of a holiday weekend but otherwise we were going to do a Sunday night.

Thanks ladies...I think I am leaming toward a Sunday (not holiday weekend ) because it is easier for family members travelling and the minimums are more reasonable. Hopefully people will not mind taking off a Monday in the summer...another excuse for a 3 day weekend

I like Friday nights better. I just feel like I have to take it easy if I have work the next day. I hate when I know I have to get up early the next morning and that I can't stay up too late. I also am a pretty tired person that if I get less than 6 hours' sleep, I will really be out of it the next day.

I say Sunday better. I work in the city and driving on weekdays and that traffic....Ugh!
Sundays less people on the road and people will be more relaxed because they don't have to rush to get ready and if they are really planning to drink a lot, they will probably take next day off or call in sick...that's why you get those days....
And on Sundays, you just have to be careful with the church because of Sunday Masses unless you are getting married at the same place you are having the reception.
I think people will come in relaxed, and ready to celebrate with you and have a good time.

I think I would prefer Sunday. I know if the ceremony was friday afternoon I would not be able to go and I hate going to just the reception (it makes me feel akward)

EITHER!!! If its a friday wedding, then ya get to take off friday..if its a sunday, teh ya get to take off on monday..either way, its a nice long weekend for your guests!Ours was a friday and it was perfect!!!
