So i'm trying to decide between Fri night and Sun night (ending around 10 or 11)
I can see pros and cons of both. Traffic would be the biggest issue on Friday.

The way I see it, is who wants to be hung over on a Sunday. Sunday is a relaxing day!

for me personally, i would rather attend a friday night wedding so that i dont have to get up early the next day.

Pros for Fri:
--U can probably get a good deal on a rehearsal dinner place (Thursday nights aren't that busy in restaurants.)
---Your guests won't have to get up and go to work the next day.
Cons for Fri: ---If u have a lot of OOT people in your bridal party, they'll have to probably take off Thursday and Friday because your rehearsal dinner would be on a Thursday.
---Guests would have to take off or leave work early on Friday.
Pros for Sun: ---You can probably work the whole week before the wedding because you'll have Saturday to finish up details.
---OOT guests can get a cheaper hotel rate for Sunday night.
---People won't have to leave work early to get there.
Cons for Sun: ---It's hard to find a place to have a rehearsal dinner on a Saturday night. (Trust me, I know bc we had a Sunday night wedding.)
---Some people will have to take off from work on Monday or leave the wedding early if they have to work/ get up early on Monday.
I'm sure their are lots more for each night, but this is all I can think of right now!

I am having a Sunday wedding. I think its easier for the guests. They won't have to rush around on Friday getting ready or getting stuck in traffic.

Friday is more partyish than Sunday. Sunday is a relaxing day to be calm and not 'party it up' too much so to speak. So it all depends what you are looking for. Do you have a lot of friends who like to go out and drink and party? If so then do Fri. If that's not the case then Sunday. When I think of a Sunday wedding i think of like a calm tranquil garden wedding for some reason. We did Friday as we are party people!!!!!!!!
its really a matter of your own preferance....I hate answering questions like this cause its easy to offend. i am having a friday wedding but only because i HAD to have 2/20 no matter what...it was my great grandparents wedding day in 1927 and the date was significant...lol Personally....i would have wanted a friday or saturday first....i just like evening weddings on weekends best...for the formal issue...for the no work th enext day issue...and i wouldnt want the holiday weekend thing.... Of course not to offend but i dont want to go to a wedding when i can go away on a long weekend...unless it was a close friend or family member...jmo...but really...its up to you...if the money issue will help then pick sunday

ITA with that.. but Sunday is harder for those who will stay out late or like to drink a little etc. It's hard to have to go into work early Monday. Personally I am less likely to say yes to a Sun wedding for that reason. If need be I would take off from work. At most with a Fri wedding you would have to leave work early but not necessarily take off from work. Also, you might have less people at the church on a Fri wedding.. but I am thinking about having the Videogropher do a recap on the plasma screens in the room of a few shots from the ceremony for the guests to have a chance to see it.
Either way.. look at all angles.. think about the majority of the guests.... and the decision will be clear.

the FH could care less lol.
If i did Sunday i would do pm because i def want night. One of our mutual friends did a sun pm wedding and it didn't seem like that many people left early and we would be inviting many of the same friends as them. I think i'm more concerned about my fam.
For friday i dont want people rushing and then tired from work. For sun i dont want people to leave early cuz a lot are teachers and i'm also inviting kids (most will be 12 and up)
The only thing i can think of to alleviate both possible problems is to send my save the date very very earily to give people advance warning.
ugh... it's such a hard decision!!!!!!

You mentioned the background of your family before.....seems like they would love to party. I'd go with Friday.

If your wedding is not on a holiday weekend, I would do a Friday so guests can stay and have fun. Yes they might need to leave work early but if you do it on a Sunday and they have to go to work the next day and they might not want to stay the whole time and might need to watch their drinking.

We chose Friday because we want a big party and everyone to has the weekend to relax. We want to visit some more with ppl on Saturday and leave for our HM sunday.
Don't worry about ppl having to take off and such. As the owner of my RH told me, The people who WANT to be there will do what they have to to be there.

Mine is on a Sunday Night and only because the next day is a holiday so most if not all of my guests are off the next day. Otherwise i would have prob did a Friday or even a Sunday afternoon(although i prefer evening weddings)

We are having ours on a Friday. I know the traffic can be an issue, but we are starting the ceremony later (we are having both the recep. and ceremony at the Surf Club). Also, since my wedding is the begining of summer, some very generous companies give their employees 1/2 day Fridays, which helps a lot in our situation. Sunday weddings are great, but the Monday hangover *****. I always call out sick the next day anyway lol.

I prefer Friday night to Sunday night.
I am hoping for a Saturday night, but if it is cost prohibitive, I'll do Friday. I don't want my guests to have to go to work after drinking.
I'll start the Friday evening reception a bit later, and if I do get married in a church, I will realize that some might not be at the church since they have to work. I won't expect a full house at the ceremony.
I have declined several weddings on a holiday weekend, even if its a Sunday night, still not my first choice for a wedding, many like to go away.
