~*~*~FRIDAY QOTD 1/29~*~*~

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!

However Friday is never Friday for me... since I work Saturday Early!!!!
YUCKO!!!!

As i'm stuffing envelopes, my dad freaked out over the # of guests on the final list. Which is 211 give or take. My dress was reasonable, we lied to him about the price.

Is anyone else lying to mom or dad about prices?
AM i the only one who's dad has no concept of how many people they know in addition to family? And absolutely no concept of the cost of things!!?

UGHHH!!

My dad would probably want to invite more people! We already have 220 though We have a big family though. We didn't even put some of my dad's cousins on. Maybe I'll add them; it's just sooo much,

My mom at first lied to my dad about the dress (she paid for it), but I got mad at her and told her to tell him the truth.

I wouldn't say that i'm lying but telling them the honest truth...my parents are old school in the way of thinking how much things cost. I have to constantly tell them that this is how much things cost now a days.

No lying here but I hate when they start how much things are costing because I feel like they're judging me

I dnt have the 'dad' issue (my dad passed away 10 yrs ago....but i am going through that with fh. He has no idea of the cost of things....he keeps telling me to get what I want and then when i tell him the price he freaks out lol

i haven't lied...just not really mentioned prices of certain things but its stuff that we are paying for ourselfs so they dont really need to know.

I don't lie, but we have more of a 'don't ask, don't tell' approach. But they know we're struggling. Anytime I do mention prices, they cringe though.

My dad isnt involved at all... the only time i would ask his opinion is on the menu...

I dont know what my mother is telling him... he knows shes paying and were paying her back with whatever gifts we get... but i dont think he really cares...

I haven't lied at all - no need to. My parents understand the costs of wedding these days. FHs parents are another story though...they have no friggin clue. They keep wanting to add more things to the wedding and invite more random people - yet, they don't want to help with it at all(sorry, this is a sore topic with me)

I have lied about prices- I just stopped telling them. I am doing great with with finding the best deal for the best price and my dad still thinks its too much. For some reason he thinks I can have a wedding with 100 guests for $5000.00. He is still living in the 1950's

Re: ~*~*~FRIDAY QOTD 1/29~*~*~

I never lie about anything. my parents paid for 70% of the RH and the rest of the wedding we're paying ourselves, so nobody cares other than being just curious and involved.
maybe me and FH lie to ourselves together

ex: me - 'ummm we have to pay $$$$$$ for X'
FH - 'oh its not so bad, right??? '
me - 'right '

my dad has no idea about the cost of wedding. he's flying over to attend mine and he just so happens to invite ALL of his friends that are based here in the US to my wedding!!! i had to put my foot down and explained to him that it will cost a LOT of money to do that... now he has to figure out a way to UN-invite all of them.

my parents know the $$ of everything and so does FH.... his parent's do also, although i have not really flat out told them too much about the reception prices just cause my parents are funding that part and I didn't think they needed to know that for that reason!

I haven't lied about how much anything has cost but I have lied about where I'm going when meeting with vendors. If my dad had it his way, he would make my wedding a platinum wedding and he just doesn't understand the concept of money. And he is stubborn about what he can and can't afford. He just wants to go over the tope and I don't want that. So I've lied about vendor appointments and FH and I have done all the negotiating. We tell them everything after the fact

I have lied to my parents about a couple of things. I learned the hard way that is easier to fib a little than to sit through lectures about overspending. The last lecture is when I told them that we want to make our own table #'s, escort/place cards and menus, eventhough the venue provides them.

Everytime we buy something, book something or whatever, my mom asks 'how much'? I either respond- 'why, you want me to get your checkbook' (we're paying 90% ourselves) or I'll tell her it none of her biz and she gets mad at me and calls me secretive.
