We picked the Friday before Columbus day. Our ceremony starts at six pm so people don't have to take a full day off work, and even if they do take off hey they get a four day weekend. We are throwing a weekend after party until columbus day is over with all our friends. We will be taking our HM in March. We are going to Italy!

Friday for several reasons. our hall cost the same for friday and saturday, but we couldnt make the min. limit of people for sat night. also, im a teacher and its the summer, so its not such a big deal for me. most friends and family live in bklyn or li so our church is in bklyn if they can make it great, but our reception is in li and it doesnt start until 730 so even people who work have time to get ready.

I was ready to do a Sunday afternoon to keep costs down but FH wanted black tie. I preferred Saturday night black tie over Sunday twilight because I like black tie at night. Friday night is not an option for us because a Rabbi wont marry us on a Friday night. We are getting married after the sun goes down as it is.

It is the start of the weekend - so my wedding will be the first event- and people are ready to PARTY on Friday nights - especially in the summer! No excuses of being tired or hung over from the night before

Sunday night of a holiday weekend. We're paying for it 100% ourselves and are inviting 200 people. Plus, it's a holiday weekend and most of our friends and family have off the next day.

we thought about day versus night but always wanted it on saturday.
i'm so glad we were able to swing a saturday night.
