Friday vs. Saturday
So, Sunday is the day to see my #1 venue and book a date or not. I used to always want a Saturday evening wedding but now I am thinking since I am looking at a July wedding that a Friday may be better. Better because its a little cheaper and better because it gives people a longer weekend.Has anyone had issues with a Friday evening wedding? I am just trying to think ahead so I can make a more permanent decision on my day. I do realize some people may need to take off from work. I also thought if its in the evening that people could work half days and head out a little later for the wedding.
Pros/cons - thoughts? I have def. been leaning towards a Friday night so people can enjoy the rest of their weekends...

Friday vs. Saturday
I was 100% sold on only a Saturday evening wedding when I went into looking at venues, however, once I found out how much money I could save and even give myself a longer weekend I was all for a Friday! lol The people who love you and want to be there will be there no matter what (whether they have to take a day off or half day). Many people will want to take the day off to have a longer weekend. My cousin is getting married in Florida and having a lot of OOT guests and they're having a Friday wedding as well.

Friday's are normally less expensive. I know some people won't want to take the day off of work and will miss out on the ceremony and just be there for cocktail hour. Are you getting married at a church or at the venue? Everyone who loves you will be there whichever day you get married.

I agree with everyone else as well. If Friday night is financially better for you, go for it. Family and Friends will choose whether they take the day off or not on their own. It's your time...enjoy the planning before it gets truly stressful. Good Luck!

We did a Friday wedding also for the savings and because I like the idea of having the rest of the weekend to recuperate. I say do it.

We went with Friday too.. We could never afford our venue on a Saturday night and what kills me is that everything else is exactly the same on a Friday or Saturday.. Just the day is different. It sucks but it is what it is and those who love you will be there no matter what. Friday is so popular now and Thursday's have become the new Friday lol

We are doing a Thursday wedding! So my vote is definitely for friday to save money. Anyone who truly matters to you and your fiance will be there, no matter what day. I am expecting a lot of people will not be at the church since we are having a Thursday wedding. We are doing the Thursday before Memorial Day, so I am hoping that will still give people a long weekend!

Thank you all for the feedback I def. feel the same way you all feel. I would be getting married at the venue so everything would be in one spot.Glad that so many people jumped on the Friday night wagon!!
Great BRIDES think alike! LOL

We chose Friday as well. We even debated a Sunday evening but felt more people would enjoy themselves on a Friday night. I've been to two Friday weddings and have one to attend this year, I already have put in my request to be off from work for that wedding lol. I don't think a Friday wedding is as out of the ordinary anymore, I haven't received any flack from anyone and it's my feeling that whoever wants to be there will be there no matter what. Do what's best for you and your fiancé!

We chose a Friday wedding because it was cheaper and it seems to be becoming the norm now and guests make the Friday work. We elected to have a late wedding on Friday so people didn't feel obligated to take a whole day off of work. You do whatever works best for you and your FH.

Everything these ladies just said. Send out some save the dates so people have PLENTY of time to figure out what they're doing and people will work it out. We ended up going with a Friday ( which we were very hesitant to do), and sure I've heard a few snickers, but then there are also people I wasn't expecting to make it to the ceremony saying they're taking the whole day off. Do what works for you, the people that matter will be there, and you will have a blast either way!

We went with Friday because of the size of our party. Our venue wouldn't give us the whole floor if we went with a Saturday. I'm actually very grateful now for the Friday because we leave for our Honeymoon on that Sunday, so having that Saturday to re-group will be nice!

You may not like what I have to say, but as guests, a friday night wedding can be difficult. If you work all day you are exhausted, you may not enjoy yourself as much, plus if you need to get to a certain location it can be tough depending on the time. I have not gone to ceremonies on Fridays because of timing but made it to the reception.FH and I also tossed around the idea of a Friday night, but we have too many people coming from out of town. We felt it was selfish to ask those people to take two days off from work to come to our wedding.
In the end, you need to do what is financially best for you. The important people in your life will be there no matter which day you pick. :)
Good Luck!

I had a Friday night wedding and all went well...No one complained about anything, they actually loved our wedding and still continue to talk about it....It has to do with family and friends and if they truly want to be there for you, then they will be there for you, I feel that as a guest I would prefer a Friday night over a Sunday night!!!! People seem to want to party more on a Friday night....:) Hope this helps!!! :)

Your closest friends/family will make it to your wedding no matter when you have it! Even if the wedding was on Saturday, a lot of people skip the ceremony now-a-days. You can never please everyone so do what is best for you and FH. Don't stress over the little things :)

I'm having a Saturday evening wedding but that's only because a little over 50% of the guests are OOT. If everyone was from NY I would definitely go with a Friday, hope that helps :)

Thank you all! My father ended up wanting to do a Saturday night for us because we have a lot of OOT and we live almost 2 hours away from the venue also. Towns near the Hamptons in the summer tend to get traffic bound - thank you for all the help deciding though!!Welcome New Vendors
