Friday Wedding?

Friday Wedding?

What are your thoughts on a Friday wedding? I am looking to get married on May 22, 2015 (the Friday of Memorial day weekend), but my fiance's dad doesn't like the idea of a Friday wedding. A lot of our guests will be traveling (from both families), but I feel that with 1.5+ years of notice, if they want to be there, they will make it. It is also a holiday weekend, so people would most likely be visiting for a few days anyway. I just can't see spending more $$$ for a Saturday wedding!

I personally prefer a Friday over Saturday. I like the fact that you have the rest of the weekend to recover. And I agree with that much notice your guests will work around it. Do what works best for you..people will always have an opinion. :)

this! and I agree over a year notice they have time to take off, plus I think about it like this guest traveling would have taken fri off to trave.anyway if the wedding was sat now if the wedding is on Fri the well travel thurs which is cheaper so u are saving them some money :) that's a bit of a stretch lol

We are having a Friday wedding. I couldn't see paying more for a Saturday night. With more than enough notice the people who matter will be there no matter what day of the week it is

I've been to a Friday night wedding, and I have to admit, I'd rather go to a Saturday wedding. I know a lot of people didn't go to their ceremony(including myself) because it was hard to get out of work early, and with traffic, especially on Long Island on a Friday people came for the cocktail hour/reception instead. If the pricing is better for you, I would say do a Friday night and whoever tries to make it there and be there is what will count!

I am having a Friday!! The price was just so much better, it's the summer and the people who want to come to my chuch will make sure they are there and everyone else will be there for the cocktail hour!! I made it for 7:00 to give people time

We are having our ceremony at 6:30 on a Friday night. The price is just way more reasonable & with notice people will try to at least make cocktail hour/reception. We almost booked 5/22/15 too

I originally wanted a Friday wedding and still think it's a great idea, in the evening after work. especially for a holiday weekend!however when we were looking at venues we saw that it was not much less then a Saturday wedding for the venues we liked. we ended up choosing a Sunday of labor day weekend so hopefully most people would have off plus with plenty of notice! :)

Nothing wrong with a Friday wedding, especially when people will have a 3-day weekend after to recover! We're getting married on a Thursday, the day before the 4th of July, for this reason and also because it's such a huge savings. We never could have afforded a Saturday night for the kind of place we wanted.

I definitely think that with enough notice, anyone who wants to be at your wedding will be. I have gone to weddings on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Fridays are definitely growing in popularity. When my friend got married on a Friday I took off from work that day, because I wanted to see her get married at the church and I also made a makeup appointment. However if I wasn't able to get off from work, the cocktail started late enough that I would be able to work a full day and still get to the wedding on time.

I so relate.. I wanted a Saturday night wedding because my entire family will be traveling from out of state and I just thought it would be best/most convenient to have Saturday night.. But realistically now that I have looked around I realize you can definitely save some money if you do Friday night. You have to figure out where you're willing to compromise. Maybe if you want Saturday have it during an off season month? Or during the day. But like you said if they have notice they will take off a day or two at work / do what they need to do to be there. Good luck!!!

Crashing.... you have to decide whats best foe you in the planning process. Everyone had their opinions! Personally having a saturday was important to me so I negotiated to what I could afford and I compromised on time of year. I wanted a november wedding but December was much cheaper and now I couldnt imagine not having a December wedding! Again its preference and what you can afford!

I have been to Friday weddings and everyone that you are inviting loves you and will be there! :)
