I'm such a retard - I went down to the deli to get something to eat and was going to order tuna salad. It looked kinda sketchy though (like it wasn't albacore but the cat-food-looking kind of tuna) so I changed my mind at the last minute and ordered chicken salad. I don't know what made me think that chicken salad was equivalent to tuna salad!

She means a canonical rule rather than strictly dictated by the bible.
And Juliet, you're pretty much correct. Early saints, philosophers and theologians set an example for fasting which the Catholic Church adopted into it's Code of Canon Law. It was subsequently refined and relaxed as recently as 1983, especially in response to Vatican II.

If you honestly forget, I don't think it is that bad. It is when you remember and do it anyway.

I am so bad with not going to church. I tell DH the least we can do is no meat on Fridays. We stick to it pretty strictly. I actually dont even mind. He likes fish, I would get a slice of pizza or something. For lunch I usually get a bagel. He is the one who actually had to remind me on Ash Wednesday that lent was starting I felt so bad!

I had a chicken quesadilla today... didnt realize it until half way thru.... then i realized i ate a chocolate munchkin last night and had given up chocolate for lent
