That sux sooo bad. Before he booked his wedding, did he know that he was going to be the best man in your wedding?? If so why would he do that?? Maybe its the girls fault?????

That was very poor taste of the BM - i would NEVER do that to a friend of mine - sorry that happened to you

wow -- that is just evil. are you sure there isn't something more going on? cause really its not just HIM that makes this decision---his FW has to have input too---so they BOTH had to make this choice knowing that your wedding is a week after?

how's his FW? is she maybe the cause of all this---like she might not like your FH or you and is trying to screw you guys over?? cause like i said, both of them have to come up with this date not just him

either way--let him know that you don't understand why he made this choice, and now you know where you guys stand in his eyes

Do you know his bride to be? I wonder if she is very very difficult and just running the show? Bride's can be very determined!

It still doesn't excuse the behavior at all, but at least then there would be a reason beyond just being terrible.

I'm so sorry - what a terrible, terrible situation to be in!

That really stinks.

I'd change mine to a week before his, but not tell him. But, I'm pretty b1tchy.

LMAO!!! If it weren't such a PITA to change things, I'd seriously consider this!!!!

But in all seriousness, if he is that non chalant about missing your wedding, than maybe it's better taht he isn't there anyway, kniw?

I would definitely confront him and let him know how disappointed and upset you are. AND, I would send out your invitations before he does!!!

I guess that's up to you....but I don't see how you can just let this go. I mean I do understand the difficulties of having to go to a destination wedding, but 1: he didn't have to accept the BM role and 2: He didn't have to plan his wedding right before yours even if he wasn't going to your wedding. That is a mean and selfish move for such a supposed 'good friend'

Something isn't right there. If he was truly a best friend, he wouldn't miss your wedding for the world. And the fact that his is one week before making it difficult for people to travel to your wedding is just mean. When me and my friends were planning our weddings we all made sure it was a date that worked for everyone. I would be deeply hurt and try to talk to him. But, I think a true friend wouldn't of done that in the first place. JMO.

Clearly, he is not taking the friendship into consideration and is acting like a major jerk. I say screw him and his wedding!

I think the only reasonable thing to do is to make FH beat him up!

(I think we need a fighting icon or at least a smiley with a black eye, lol!)

Otherwise you can just beat up FW. That is what I would do, lol!

We will further discuss this at lunch Cara!

Might I also add:

This friendship is not salvagable. Why would you want to be friends with someone that would be so inconsiderate of your feelings and cause you so much stress during the planning of your wedding. Clearly these people are selfish and unworthy of your friendship.

You and Anthony are lovely and have a lot of great friends that appreciate you. No need to hang onto something that you should be letting go of.

OMG I would be outraged! IMO I think that is very rude of them especailly since he is in the bridal party!

I stinks that you feel that many of the guests wont be able to attend yours but think of it this way...all the people that love you guys will MAKE SURE they are there...and in then end, that is really all that matters!

Good luck!

we spoke to the BM and he basicallt tolf us thet this is the date they wanted so thats it.

And that even though we gave him 19 months notice he doesnt see how affording a trip to our wedding was possible (he has said how he and his fiance make combine over 200K a year and he just bought a new audi truck)

I have been setting aside $$$ for all of my freinds weddings, FYI Italy in Oct cost $800 round trip anf we were paying for the hotel and told our guests no presents please, your presence is present enough)

How lame? I am thinking he was never the friend we thought he was or he is so whipped he is blind!
do we save the 25 year long friendship and try to talk it out?

at this point, I dont think it was a friendship to begin with....
