Friend of the family had her wedding called off by her FH

A family friend had her wedding called off by her fh with no warning at all. She had everything booked hall, limos, flowers, dress ,etc, and he just calls her up and says I'm not coming home ( they live with her parents) and i dont want to get married. he then came by that weekend and took his stuff!! said he just doesnt love her and has been thinking about this for a few weeks. How do you make a decsion like that in only a few weeks?
Just wanted to post b/c i feel terrible for her.She was suppose to get married one week to the day before me!!! I guess she may not be up to coming to my wedding which is understandable.

this happened to a friend of mine 3 weeks before her wedding. EVERYTHING was ready to go! and it's the best thing that ever happened to her.

imagine if your friend's FH walked out after they had a baby? it's a blessing in disguise. she will get thru it, it is just going to take a lot of time.

yes...if he isn't man enough to talk about it and at least TRY to work it out....she will be better off in the end!!!

This is sad, but very true! Honestly, I will never understand how a person can be going through so much inside their own head/heart, and not share it with the person they 'love.' I mean, to walk away without even talking about it first...is heartless, cowardly and shameful! And the poor woman will never really have 'closure' unless she gets to grill the guy over why he had a change of heart.

My condolences to your friend!

AWE, Poor girl !
My heart goes out to her.
I agree with Claud, very strange/wrong/cowardly for someone not to share those feelings with their spouse.

What a tough time of year to go through this.

Send her lots of hugs

Im sure she WILL be better off without him.

This scenero happened to my step sister (the only one I really liked of the 3 I have)

She had dated the same guy since her Sophomore Year in High School. Then went to college together and both got their degrees. Said they want to wait until after that to get married. They had lived together and everything.

Then she decided she wanted to be old fashioned and have him carry her into her new home (apt, whatever) on the night of their wedding. Sounds romantic, right? So she moved back home with her father and sent him back home to his family.

*Sigh*

Think about it. Since HIGH SCHOOL!! For the first time in his life, he as 'free'. He hung out with friends more, went out more and so on. 1 month before the wedding he broke it off (and broke her heart). He said he had seen what life he could have and didnt feel like he had lived enough to know that he wanted to marry her.

It was heart breaking.. she had to explain to everyone and then cancel all her arrangements.

Being that I had broke off my engagement around a year eariler my beloved step mother kept bragging about her daughter 'going through with it' to my dad and all who would hear her. It was bad. When the wedding fell through, my Step sister asked for my help on dealing with those vendors. I did all I could for her. My step mother was ashamed and totally ticked at her daughter for 'losing a good man, for a stupid romantic idea'.

It's sad. But better than divorce, I guess.
still... so close to the wedding, it was tough on her. I haven't spoken to her since then.

Re: Friend of the family had her wedding called off by her FH

this happened to a cousin of mine two weeks before her wedding.

it was awful. the upshot? she got offered a job in Albany that she wasnt' going to take becuase she was getting married - she called and took the job- moved herself there all alone, no friends, no money, etc. Met a great guy who works in advertising a month later and is married with a beautiful baby boy!

When the Lord closes a door.....he opens a window. Even if it's just a crack and you have to pry it up the rest of the way yourself!

This will be a hard time for her - just stay by her side, and hopefully she'll feel the breeze coming through her new window soon.
