friend vent

friend vent

i have a friend from high school, who in high school was my best friend. we talk every now and then, but not like we used to mainly because she moved to Jersey.

so yesterday she texted me & asked if she is in the bridal party.
i called her & told her no because i am only including my cousins which she was ok with. but i told her that we would like her to do something at the ceremony & asked if she was planning on attending, which she said yes, i am taking off the entire week from work to help you.
then she said that if not during the ceremony she will make a speech at the reception.

i almost fell on the floor. so i nicely said that my sister, (MOH) will be making a speech at the reception. she got annoyed over that & told me that she will work it out with my sister. i can not believe this.

why do people just assume things, like that??

have you talked to her recently? do you keep up on a regular basis?

i kind of think its sweet. she still loves you and cares for you. im sure when you were in HS you always imagined being in each other BP and stuff (or at least you can tell she did)

just tell her to slow down....if she wants to make a speech...let her...at the REHEARSAL DINNER!

maybe she really values your friendship..and even though u arent as close as u once were..she still considers u 1 of her besties.

im sure she doesnt mean any harm. i know shes a bit...'much' but i guess it should be flattering that some1wants to help out as much as she does.. taking a week offf? ehh..kukkkkkkkuuuuu

it would not go over very well.lol

do you really think she is going to talk to your sister?

wow its a little crazy....but at least she wants to be involved.

i would just talk to her and be like i appreciate your excited and want to help but we already have my sister doing the speech, etc. Just tell her you want her as part of the ceremony and thats it.

Even I am not taking off the whole week before my wedding...if one of my friends started bugging out like this I don't know what I'd do!! It seriously must be a full moon coz the cuckooooos are coming out of the woodwork!!

She sounds like a big 'much', but she doesn't sound like she has bad intentions.

I agree with offering for her to do a speech at the RD instead of the reception.

If you don't want/need her help during the week before her wedding, just give her a heads-up a month or two before. 'Hey, I know you mentioned that you're going to take off a week to help me, but things look good to go. I guess I'm lucky I got all the minor details done early! I don't want to eat up a week of your vacation time in April; you should really save it for during the year in case something fun comes up and you want to go away!' - a gentle way of getting her to back off a lil there.

And def give your sister a heads-up about the phone call she may be getting. Would you be willing to have her do a reading during the ceremony, or are you afraid she won't stick to the script now?

I had a 28-year-old friend ask me if she could be my flower girl. Ummm.....

Re: friend vent

the thing is that she is a real pain in the a-s-s. the type of person that no matter what you tell her she still does as she pleases.
we definitely want her to do a reading at church.

i will be giving my sister a heads up about her & we will discuss what she will say to make her get the point that we don't want her giving a speech at the reception.

as far as taking off the entire week of the wedding, i think its a little much. i am only taking the day before off myself.

i was kind of thinking of maybe, just maybe, having her at my house the day of to help out with all the little things. taking care of all the last minute phone calls with the vendors & such. but i have time to think about that.

I don't think she means any harm. Just have her help with small stuff. She prob doesn't realize she is being pushy.

she's a little overkill...

Yikes! I think that will be a good way to include her--that way she feels important. I'm doing that with a cousin I don't really like that much

Also, speak to your dj/band about not letting her speak--my dj said that under no circumstances does he give the mic to anyone but the bm, moh and fathers/mothers--definitely give them the heads up too!

OMG is that ballsy!!!!!

I mean, really ballsy!!!

It's nice that she wants to help but she is going overboard...nip it in the bud now before it gets worse!

Yeah. Said she had a dress picked out and everything.
So strange.
She's also a huuuuuuuge pothead (I got nothin' against the stuff ) but she smokes about 8 or 10 times a day. Every day.
Much as I love her, I had to tell her that we don't want any flower girls...adult or otherwise.
