My friends are getting married in 2008 and my wedding is June of 2009. They like to say your wedding is so far away, what do you say to people like that?

Re: Friends
I would say: 'Yeah it is far but we chose that. Our wedding needs to be the the right time for us. Plus, it gives us time to save and create more things.'

Re: Friends
I think everyone can be in their own world at times - the coordinator at the reception hall just told me that my wedding is so far away that I really don't need the info I was trying to get from her just yet. It's in 3 months and I was asking for table diagrams and bar arrangements - I don' t think that's too early
I think it's great that you are starting to plan now- it may help you keep from going crazy at the end, but your friends have their wedding in the front of their heads now, which is understandable, I'd try not to be upset by it
Enjoy you rplanning!

Re: Friends
I mean we all want a wedding in 2009 for a reason, to have the best wedding and save a lot of money!

Re: Friends
'And yours is not as far.'
And if they say anything else, you say, 'So what?'
or my favorite - 'Why do you care?'
Finally, if they continue to say it, 'I don't know why you're so concerned. It's not like you're invited.'

Re: Friends
You can't let what others say get to you. You and FH picked a date that worked for you, enough said. It is no one's business why you chose your date. As long as you are happy with your date, when people ask why it's so far away, you just say 'because that is what WE wanted'.

What is so funny is we are all suppose to be friends, I am in their wedding party and them in mine. Oh well 2009 is going to be awesome and I have done most of the planning already so I am on top of the game! Thanks for everyone giving me great advice!

I would say the exact thing also I would say it gives me and FH time to make it just that more special and memorable for our guests and families.

Re: Friends
we booked the hall nearly 2 years ahead of time....so thru all of 2005, when we said our wedding date in 2007, ppl would be like 'wow...why so far?'
my response? 'if you wanna pay for it, we'd be happy to get married tomorrow.'
that usually shut ppl up.

Re: Friends
Isn't it fair to say that their wedding isn't exactly around the corner either? 2008 isn't exactly tomorrow.
