Friends Only Not-Quite-Engagement Party ideas needed (NYC area)
The FW and I are not going to have an actual engagement party. However, she really wants to have at least her friends celebrate with us. So we are thinking something along the lines of going out to a bar in the city, calling ahead to get some type of cover charge that included open bar & some appetizer style food. I know a bunch of places that do something similar for birthdays. Porky's is one example. Anyone have suggestions?

What kind of place are you looking for? Drinks and socializing? Dancing? I've been to Porky's a couple of times. It's fun, but if you can, I would reserve the back room/area. It's definitely a wilder place.
I would also check out Black Finn (can you get the back area, hors douerves, and an open bar for a good price) & McFaddens.
I went to the Katwalk recently for a bachelor/bachlorette party (it was a joint thing). This is also loud, and has dancing.
