do you guys hear this a lot? i have a beautiful ring...but not huge by any standard...maybe it appears large because its a three stone...but every one of my friends boyfriends now is trying to outdo my ring...is that annoying? am i the only one? im like...HELLO, your ring should have nothing to do with mine! and like i said, its not even such a big one to try to outdo!! arrgh!!

When I showed my friend mine after I got engaged, the first thing she did was compare them and say hers is bigger. I like mine, FH picked it out on his own and it was exactly what I wanted. Besides when I am moving into a house and they are still paying off her ring I'll be the one comparing a house to a ring. Ha HA!!!

thank god im not the only one with friends like this! ...and sometimes i dont even think they are saying it on purpose...but like....get over it! we are all different people...we dont need ot compare!

I don't talk to her much anymore. I don't see reason to compare, the e-ring is a symbol or promise made by FH, each should be different and each is unique in its own way.

People are sooo lame. I had a friend who was engaged way before me and kept boasting about how big her diamond was and how bigger is better..blah blah blah....Then when I got engaged and my stone was bigger then hers, her attitude became 'anything bigger then (her carat weight) is a big waste of money, no need for such a big stone'.....Sooo annoying!

A bunch of my friends got engaged at the same time and they played the 'my ring is bigger than yours' game. I can not tell you how many times the girls went and had diamonds added to their setting just so they could have the most karat weight. Absolutely crazy and childish.

no way karen!!! now i feel better. none of my friend would do that....its the guys right now. i think because i was really the first one to gte engaged...they feel they have to 'live up' to mine. and like i said, its not even big. i think its different than most, so it gets attention, but thats my taste! oy, people.

This is such a shame- why do people have to be so competitive about everything. It's so sad that friends can't be genuinely happy for you without jealousy and competition getting in the way.

Did you ever have people flat out ask you how many carats, what color, or what it cost??? People ask me ALL THE TIME and I CRINGE!!!! First of all. it's NONE of anyones business, second of all I didn't ask the price and lastly, I did NOT sit around memorizing the GIA certificate!!! TACKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i work in a school where pretty much everyone is single, and I was the one to get engaged back around Xmas, so everyone oohed and ahhed, and then SLAM...the tackiest question of 'How big is it?' Now, another girl just got engaged, and all they do is say to me, 'Oh, her's is nice, but we like your's better, it's just so much prettier.' Meanwhile, this girl and I are friends, and they say the same thing to her about her ring being 'so much prettier' than mine. GET A LIFE! Some people
I have a pretty large stone...DH was getting paid very well when he bought it...but his friends FW at the time...showed me her ring and had to justify to me that it was smaller b/c it was his mom's stone and it means so much to her to have it...
I didn't care one way or the other...Why do we have to prove our love to our DH/FH by ring size or whatever

I've had a number of people ask me the carat weight, especially at the nail salon & hair salon. That doesn't bother me all that much. I do get kind of embarrassed when it's in front of others, but not so much offended.
In fact today, the owner of the nail salon and the girl working on my nails were discussing my ring. All of a sudden the owner asks me, 'Is your fiance rich?' I cracked up. I told her 'Not after buying me the ring!'
