Friends with an ex?

Original post by coxmandi

Are you or your FH/DH friends with an ex?

If so, how much contact do you have with the ex, ie phone calls, emails, hanging out etc?

My FH doesn't talk to his ex's but I have an ex who I talk to kinda regularly. Just wondering what other people are comfortable with.

Re: Friends with an ex?

My highschool sweetheart is one of my best friends. We were friends first, then he went to the army and we broke up but always kept in touch. He is in the reserves now and travels a lot but I still keep in touch with him via email, phone and have the occasional dinner with him.

He was at our wedding. My husband doesnt love the idea of it but its something I just cannot remove from my life. He means the world to me...and so does our relationship. Its something that my dh just has come to accept which i find awesome.

FH and I both have ex's that we are friends with (occasional lunches, emails, etc...) and then again we both have ex's we dread the thought of even running into!

One of his is coming to the wedding and I love her - she's a doll (and married, so that helps!)

Re: Friends with an ex?

I have 3 exes. One of them I would hang out with, have no animosity toward, but we've completely lost contact since he had a kid.

Another of them pops in and out of my life, acting like he's my best friend and then finds some way to screw me over (when will I learn?) FH hates him and really doesn't like me hanging out with him or talking to him when I do, but he never tells me what to do, he just warns me...and he's always right

The third is my first boyfriend ever. We sort of BS back and forth over IM and like, once a year we'll talk on the phone and run out for a beer or cup of coffee or something. FH has no problem with this.

FH has no exes!
