From the Rescued Feral posting

Well, even though she's been letting me pet her, I was petting her I guess too long last night and she swatted at me. I now have this huge gash in my hand! I treated it with peroxide and neosporin and FH wrapped it in gauze. I'll tell you guys though - I'm not liking the idea of my declawed 3 cats being around a feral with claws. I'd be so angry at myself if one of my other cats got hurt. I know declawings not considered a good thing to do b/c it's painful for the cat, but seeing the damage this cat did to me - I could not leave the house knowing that my other 3 could get this badly hurt. My oldest cat's also an instigator of fights, but I never worried b/c all 3 came into my life previously declawed. My only other option may be to release her back into my yard. I could see us making a shelter for her, but the big question is - this is a starter home for us, we plan on moving in 3 or 4 years... what happens to this kitty? I've heard that if you move a feral, they will try to find the old home and thats when they get hit by cars and such, but I can't see advertising my house as 'hardwood floors, EIK, and comes coplete with outside cat for you to feed'. May not work out for the cat. What to do? I'm now officially afraid of this cat. I went in to feed her and she growled and hissed at me! I told her she's going to end up back outside in the rain and cold if she keeps this up. I could have even adopted FH's cousins fostered cat - a sweet male, really, really nice cat, instead I'm stuck with the wicked kitty of the east!

The 2 feral cats my cousin has started off in a completely different part of the Island than they are now. They have never left.

As I mentioned before, I have a lot of experience with feral cats. It takes a long time for them to be used to people and other animals. It is unlikely that the feral will hurt the other cats. I would not worry about that. You have to move slowly. Within a year, he will be friendlier. But probably only with you. Don't expect too much too soon.
