Have you been getting any notes or checks, or anything?
I got one check, anda few notes, a few frowny faces,
I get really bummed when I just see an 'x' next to 'declies with regret' with no explanation or anything, which is what most of them have been. I feel like I would at least write something.

HMMMM, this is a good question. I think it would depend on who it is from, there are some people that if they just said no with no explanation, it wouldn't matter, but from others, I would be offended!!

Re: From your no RSVPS
we had a few that just checked off no, a few that wrote a note along with it explaining why they couldn't come and then we had 3 people send us a check, which I thought was very nice of them.

I've only had 2 so far. One wrote a long note and sent a gift, and one did nothing at all.

It makes me sad as well! I've gotten a lot of long emails before people sent back their 'no' replies. Two of my good friends are pregnant and just put on bed rest. I was very sad!!!
I even got a 'no' with no name!!! lol

Re: From your no RSVPS
I have to decline a wedding soon. I am attending her Batchelorette party and probably bridal shower. FH and I will be sending a check in a card with our declined RSVP with a note. I have only had to decline one other wedding years back and I also sent a check.

1 sent a check (so unexpected)
The other 5 either had frown faces and one had a short note saying they were sorry they couldn't attend but no reason.

Re: From your no RSVPS
About 4 years ago, I had to reply no to a good friend's wedding since my whole family (20 members) were taking a trip to Italy. I sent a LONG email with an apology before I sent out the reply card. I also attended her bridal shower. Well, we never spoke again. A few months after her wedding, she called me and told me how hurt she was and how I should take this as a learning experience for the future. I even sent a gift!
Well, I did take this as a learning experience... not to be a PSYCHO! I've gotten a number of emails, and I'm understanding! Things happen! Life does not revolve around my wedding.
I forgot to mention that I did receive one check with a card with the RSVP inside!! And it was from my brother's girlfriend's parents!!! So sweet and generous!!!

Re: From your no RSVPS
We got some notes, 2 checks, and sadly a card. My FH's aunt mailed us a card explaining why she feels she cannot go to the wedding. Her husband passed away unexpectedly last winter, and she is still trying to keep things together. She said thye both loved weddings, and danced all the time at them, and she is saddened that she cannot get herself to come to ours. My Fh went to show the card to his mother and father, don't know if it's concern or he's mad she won't be there. But I understand. It's one person we really will miss at the wedding.

Oh, that is terrible, but so understandable!!! Everyone mourns in their own way!!
After my grandmother passed away, my grandfather couldn't attend Mass anymore. It was so sad!!!!

Re: From your no RSVPS
maybe it is me, but I wouldnt (and havent) sent a note or a gift with a response card. When i reply 'no' all i do is check off the box and mail it back. If FH and I end up sending a gift, we typically send a card and check separate from the rsvp and write in that, sorry we cant make it etc.

Re: From your no RSVPS
I've had three no's and two of them had notes on them and one was a verbal no with explanation to FH (FH's boss). He's the only one that sent a present though (2 steak knives set and wooden block chopping board from our CB registry )

Re: From your no RSVPS
when i usually send a 'no' response, i send the gift when it gets closer to the wedding, like a week or two before just FYI - usually because if i don't attend a wedding, i'll just buy something off of the registry instead instead of sending money

Re: From your no RSVPS
I have to say as a bride getting a LOT of no's.
(I seriously broke down crying a few times... )..
I really appreciate the little notes.
One cousin wrote 'with much regret' next to declines with regret and explained when we saw them at another wedding that the wife (the one not related by blood) has a family reunion that weekend and people staying at her house.
Some other people wrote notes on the back or on a separate piece of paper. I thought that was at least nice, although two pissed me off.
One was from a friend since freshman year of HS who actually lives in NY (in fact her parents still live like 10 blocks from me), and she explained in her note that she has 3 weddings in June and it was a'really hard decision' and she couldn't take off for all 3. I felt kind of bad.
Another cousin from FL wrote something like 'We hope we can meet soon to celebrate'...I posted about this already, but we have gone to FL sooooooo many times. I guess they're waiting for us to come down there again.
I don't know, I feel kind of sad. I also noticed that people saying yes generally put a check, and people saying no generally put an x, and seeing this card with just an x makes me sad.
Maybe it's just the overall thing of how FH's family is mostly not coming and a lot of my older HS friends are flaking out too.
