Hey girls: FH and I signed a contract with a contractor today to do windows and siding on the whole house. The work will start in November. We also asked him to install a new front door and storm door. When he measured the front door he said ours is larger than the normal door, so we need to order the doors ASAP since it will be considered a special order. So who has better and cheaper doors...Lowes or Home Depot? Or if you could recommend another store that would be great too! Thanks

Marcela, We havent shopped for doors (yet) but in shopping for other home projects, we found it was worth the trip to see the selection at Lowes also. (we bought our laminate flooring at Lowes, HD didnt have the color or selection)
If you LOVE anything at Home Depot, go for it, if you wanna see some more options, Lowes sometimes has more selection in certain areas.

If you need a custom size you might want to try Elegant Entries. When we compared the pricing with HD they were a little higher but you get to totally customize you door. The screen doors were outrageous but they carry steel vs the aluminum that you find at HD and Lowes.

we got a great one from Home Depot and our contractor put it on. I heard elegant entries are a bit expensive from people who went there so make sure you shop around
home depot --- if you open up a charge charge with them you get 10% off Lowes I think stopped doing that
If you go in the next week or so tell them you saw them at the home show at Suffolk Comm Col and ask for the show price. They will probably be at the show in Stonybrook this weekend.
