Front door

That's beautiful! I can't comment on the price (though I seem to remember my parents paying a lot for their door, which is not as nice.

I'd buy it. Front doors are not something you replace often. My parents did not replace the original front door on their house till 1995; it was probably 45 years old but in good shape.

That's a beautiful door! I don't think $700 sounds too much at all. I was quoted $500 for a custom screen door last year!

I think it sounds pretty good considering all the detail work.

we bought a door like that but it was an oval window and wood looking, and it cost us about $500-600.

We replaced our front door and screen door a few years ago and paid about $1500 with installation, so that's about right (ours had 2 sidelights too). Here's a before and after:

It looks like you have a hi ranch - that's what i have (st. james), plus i noticed that you did not get the storm door - we are placing the order for our door today and my question is does the main door block the foyer when it's open - that's what i don't want - was that a concern of yours???

That sounds about right. I know that if you go to Home Depot and other stores, Home Dept is cheaper because most companies make a cheaper version of their product for Home Depot. I would not recommend getting doors from them. MY MIL and brother both had problems with theirs.

Good Luck!

Yes, we have a hi-ranch. We did get a storm door, it just wasn't up yet in that picture - here it is now:

The door opens in and yes, if its open, it blocks the foyer. It has to be closed in order to go downstairs, but you can go up the stairs when the door is open. Did I make sense?
