frustated

Okay so i'm wondering if i am the only one that doesn't have a huge budget. in the contrary i have a tiny budget and we can only afford to pay 40pp with tax and gratuities for a small reception of 63 people on a sunday afternoon in august or monday, july 3. I still want to have an elegant reception without looking cheap. Is that so hard to ask for? This will be after all the wedding we never had. Sorry for being so long.

I'm a firm believer in that its the little details that cost nothing that make a wedding special. Your day is going to be beautiful and perfect no matter where you have it because it is a celebration of yours and Fh's love.

Have you thought about having a cocktail party instead of a sit down dinner? That may help a lot to keep costs down. Maybe instead of having a full open bar you could just have wine and champagne passed around. There are definitely ways for you to have an elegant, and not overly expensive wedding. Do you know anyone with a beautiful backyard? You could have a lovely cocktail reception and just hire caterers for the food. You can hire someone to play bartender, but purchase all of the alcohol yourself. Use your imagination, you can pull it off!

Re: frustated

are you looking for suggestions for halls with your budget?
You can also look into a buffet style dinner instead of sit down... that may cut the cost a bit...

Isn't the Huntington Town House only like 30 or 40 per person? I could have sworn I saw it advertised somewheres...

I have no budget because I can't afford one! Really though your wedding will be what ever you make of it and if you need help let us know. You could make your favors instead of buying them. Michaels has great ideas. Make your veil my bestfriend did and it was beautiful and cost her $20. Your flowers could be silk and again made you won't have to have them perserved either. There's plenty of great girls on here that turned me onto these online bridal shops. I personally haven't bought a gown from them but they say they've had no problems and saved lots of $$
As far as the hall, I've suggested it to other brides. Try the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside on Kenneth Pl. It's unreal and weddings are done there all the time. I had a party downstairs in the smaller room and it was amazing and cost $28pp. We had a cocktail hour and a buffet as well as a cordial bar, open bar through out the party and the cake. Linens, etc. If you want more info. FM me. I did look for pics of the room downstairs for another bride and can't find them(we moved in with inlaws and everythings a mess)The room upstairs is much larger though and were I've seen the weddings held. Anyway, that was long sorry but if we can help just keep posting!

You coudl try a brunch? the Millerage Carriage house has that, not sure of the price, but they are very reasonable. With only 60 people you could have it in a large private room in a restaurant too. Or try vwf type halls & a deli/caterer.
