I thought one year was an average length engagement. My FH and I got engaged on March 25, 2009 and are getting married next March 27, 2010... That's a whole year!! Why is it that everyone has the same reaction 'Wow... that was fast!!' or 'Oh, really??....why so rushed?' It's a year!!! Is that really so rushed? I'm tired of that reaction. It's so annoying... Our E-party is next month (2 1/2 months from the time we got enagaged) and while I was planning that, people were having the same reaction. 'Wow already?? Why so soon?....Is this a race?' I'm ready to scream!!! IS IT JUST ME? GRRRR!

my engagement was a year and half and its ripping my family apart....we should have a had a 4 month engagement...i know 3 people who tried to move their weddings up becuase they couldnt handle the stress!!!! be happy

I think that a year isn't too fast. A month is too fast. Tell them to get over it.

it seems people will always have something to say so don't pay attention! i got engaged in june 08 and i am getting married next year so i hear OMG WHY SO LONG? so don't worry about it you and fh be happy and make sure you enjoy your wedding planning without listening to people's opinions or comments!! hope this helps!

Everyone def. has an opinion. I got engaged in 2007 and I'm not getting married until 2010. Just ignore them!

Everyone always has something to say! F em! I got engaged in December and picked my date and RH almost 3 months later and people said the same thing.

many of the girls on this site who are getting married in 2010 got engaged in 2008 & we used to always say how everyone would say to us, 'why such a long engagement?' nothing is ever good enough for people. just ignore them.

for us its also about a year from the engagement to the wedding, more or less, but we get the opposite reaction: 'why so long???' 'is it customary to wait so long?' 'relax u still have soooo much time' drives me nutts!!! so, no matter what we do its never good enough. as everybody else said: just make urself happy, ignore all these commentators - F'em

People think my engagement was too long..i got engaged in late october 2008 so it is almost 2 years...but when i first got engaged FMIL said she hoped we didn't 'rush'. Nice huh? People are really annoying and are always ready to say something nasty about your wedding no matter what you do..don't let it bother u

IGNORE them!!!! PPL will always have something to say! Too fast! Too Long! Tell them that when it's their time to get married, then they can do it how they want! Until then...pls mind your business!

well at least you are moving and planning. it took FH and i about 5 months to set a date and book RH and church! we certainly got a few comments during that time

I think it's so funny people are giving you grief over a 1 year engagement.
FH and I will be engaged exactly 6 months and 2 days when we tie the knot.
Not a single person said to me 'wow, that's so fast' -- not one!!!!!
You do what works for YOU. They can all pass judgment on their own lives.

We got engaged in Jan of this year and wedding is set for May 2010. Almost everyone i told said-'so soon?' I don't get it either...If i said we were getting married this summer i could see, but come on, it's over a year away...

I guess maybe part of it has to do with your ages? I don't know.
I just turned 30 and no one blinked when I said we're getting married in July.
FH also lives in NC now (he moved last year) so maybe that's also why...
Anyway, as long as you're happy, who cares what they say?

Dont pay any attention to them I got engaged in December and Im getting married in April 2010. Its only 16 months not that long either.

You can never please everyone and u shouldn't frustrate urself trying. My engagement is going to be 18 months and i get the 'wow thats so far away'. Originally i wanted to get married in 2011 but we moved it up.

Yea i got the same thing. we got engaged december 20th and were going to get married early march but then i ended up wanting May - so we had our e-party in march 3 1/2 months after getting engaged and everyone was like wow thats so fast..... shut up & come to the damn party!!!!
