I know this has been mentioned before, but just want to reiterate the fact that it is so frustrating when people question your plans for your wedding. Here FH and I are excited about favor ideas and I'm being told I'm taking on too much and it's probably going to cost more than we think and is it really the best idea.......maybe that is the case, I don't know, but I was so excited about my idea of doing chocolate molds. Instead of putting down my idea, can't they just offer their help in getting it all done or put me in the right directions?

Re: Frustrating
I get that all the time too! I just tell them that we are planning out all ideas and will make final decisions when the time comes to what we can or cannot afford to do.
Nothing wrong with trying to plan out the favors and other stuff.
Ignore what other people say... you and & your FH know what's best for you weding

Re: Frustrating
Oh you have no idea... At least four times a day I hear from a friend/family member/co-worker:
'But your wedding is SOOOOO far away, why are you thinking about that now.'
Because, nitwit, if we plan NOW. I won't be one of those crazy stressed ridiculous bridezilla brides. It's called brainstorming... the more details we get out of the way the easier it'll be for me in the end.
Luckily, no one's hassling us about our budget. Except FFIL, but it's not his money so he can bite me. If I hear one more time about how it's a waste of money to have a big wedding... he can save me the headache and not come.
Edited to stop my rant, sorry! Anyway, do what you want, it's YOUR day, and as long as YOU and FH love it to h3LL with everyone else... they'll sure love your favor idea when they get one at the wedding!!

Re: Frustrating
there are people who are always going to say something to rain on your parade. FMIl seems to think that since we aren't getting married in a church that our ceremony is not as sacred (this coming from a woman who is divorced and hasn't been to church in years ). So i can definitely understand your frustration. My advice is to ignore the negative comments and only share your ideas with people who are either 1)going to be supportive of them or 2) at least give constructive critism instead of just turning down your idea.

And that is why I tell no one, except my sister and best friend, anything about the wedding. I don't want to hear it. Some comments have been passed, but I think I've put an end to that. Sometimes you have to be a little more straight forward with some people.

I couldnt have said it better myself! What you want to do for your wedding it your business and thats that! More importantly, the people around you should be supporting you. I've started things now too and people are shocked being that I have a year and a half left, but truth of the matter is, I work full time. I have a 10 year old son and I dont have a maid at home. Any chance I can get to start things, I am! I cannot take time off from work in the last month and I do not want to drive myself crazy at the last minute to do everything I want to do.

This thread is cracking me up, I can hear how pissed off and animated you guys are just from your posts.
Oh and I feel the same way. My MOH is doing this a lot because we naturally critique and questions everything, but my wedding details are not to be questioned. Oh and if another vendor looks at me funny when I say 2010, they are going to end like the guy that Joker did the pencil magic trick on

I agree with both of you. People thought I was crazy booking the photographer already....I almost lost her to Jesca I want to get things like the aisle runner and table decor out of the way so that the only thing i have left to do the month of is make a million chocolates and hang out with people. I have storage in my house, I think I can handle 125 place cards. And its the fact that FH was excited about my idea that makes me want to make it happen. Makes me happy he's into it. Sometimes I wish I was 3 again so I could jump up and down screaming and kick things. OMG that would be the best.

I have to say, besides FH, my sister/MOH has been extremely supportive of me. She asked me the other day if I wanted help from her with anything. She said she wants to help me with anything that she can.

See how barbtony is getting married on 10-10-10 at North Ritz Club? A girl I work with just tried to book North Ritz Club for her 10-10-10 wedding and couldn't.... so believe me, if you want to book something... get it now.
PS: The girl at work fell in love with Jericho Terrace so it was a non-issue
I feel if a vendor isn't willing to give me the respect I deserve for making a major purchase... they can kiss my money goodbye. So far I've had very good experiences because once I sense negative from a vendor... I'm out of there.
I booked Fox Hollow in June and some of the 2010 dates I wanted were already booked. Luckily I was flexible... but if you have something you ABSOLUTELY want... I'd book now.

That's what everyone should say....how can I help. My mother is super crafty (somehow that gene skipped me) and she said anything I need help with she'll do it. I know most people mean well. I just think that even if I said I was going to have stuffed pink elephants in tutus as my centerpieces people should just smile and say 'good for you do you need help dressing the elephants'.

i try to keep my ideas to a very few people. everyone eles seems to like to tell us how they would do it instead of support our decisions! it is really frustrating!
