FSIL complaining about shuttle

Original post by QueenPeach

FSIL has a 3 and 5 year old and we just let her know that the shuttle we're providing for hotel guests is at 5pm going there and at midnight returning to the hotel at the end. We wanted to give her a heads up because she has such young children they might need an alternative by driving themselves. Her reply was 'what kind of shuttle service is that!', 'you mean we're going to be STUCK at the wedding until the end! They have to take us back to the hotel earlier'. She complained to us that we got a crappy limo/shuttle company and that we should've gotten one that takes guests back to the hotel whenever they want to leave. It makes me so mad that she would say that people would be 'stuck!' at our wedding. And to tell us that we are doing a disservice to our guests because our transportation option is so limiting. I don't think our shuttle service is limiting at all! It was really expensive to hire a shuttle to take 50 guests! aghhhhh

It's a shuttle, not a taxi!

It is very nice that you are even providing one. If our hotel didn't offer one, i don't think we'd have one!

Don't let her bother you!

first off that wasnt very nice of them and in reality they should have their car there. were they planning on bringing her car seat to the hall? i would be livid ... they really should bring their own car! sorry she said that to you. a shuttle is an ADDITIONAL service not a necessity!

so what did miss fancy pants provide at her own wedding??? i highly doubt she arranged for a shuttle to go back and forth every 20 minutes....

She didn't have anything! All her guests drove themselves!

UMMM, Case in Point!!!!!!! Next time she says something about being 'stuck' at your wedding....you can say you were stuck at hers forever bc there was no transportation at all!

This is funny! I was PO'd that the shuttle wouldn't be going all night because I want my sisters to be able to take their kids back if they get tired! I don't want screaming kids around! However I am just going to work out with the RH if they can call them a taxi if they want to leave early....but they don't have cars because they're coming from out of the country.

I have a child, I would never expect someone to accomdate me! When you have kids you have to be prepared for things that might happen and deal with them on your own, ie, leaving places early with your own transportation!!!!!
Tell her to STFU, in the nicest way possible of course

ignore her! first of all you are doinga great thing by even having the shuttle at all! if she has young children, she will have to make her own plans. don't let her comments ruin this for you. like i said, you are doing a great thing by even having the shuttle to begin with!

couldn't agree more! Having the shuttle is an added luxury you are providing your guests and no one should be complaining about the schedule the shuttle runs on. She'll have to figure out an alternative way of getting the children home a little earlier.

I actually didn't even think about the kids needing car seats. If she was planning on taking the shuttle, then I guess the kids wouldn't have car seats cause I'm not sure there are seatbelts on the bus. Are kids allowed to sit like that?

One day, I will tell her to STFU because that would make me so so happy. I want to tell her off on every selfish and inconsiderate thing she does. Right now, I will have to just fantasize about it.

Wow!! Some people can't appreciate anything. You don't owe her ANYTHING. Don't get upset just tell her that she can always drive if she doesn't want to be 'stuck' at your wedding.

I totally agree with you. As a mother of a young son, I will NEVER expect someone to accomodate me. Anything can happen and therefore she should have her own transportation.
